great post - only way you could have improved was printing the photo and having it sit on your printer tray.

RIP Steve

my Premiere issue of Macworld magazine from 1984

MacBook Pro, iPad, MacBook, Mac mini, eMac, iPhone & Power Mac G4 paying a final farewell to their innovator Steve Jobs. RIP Steve Jobs you where a true visionary.

Apologies for bad photo, my DSLR struggled to get all the screens in focus properly.

You will be missed RIP

from Ryan, the biggest Apple fan out there.

Guys, this is my current setup (took this pictures about 5 seconds ago).

I am not happy with it.
I mean... look:

- I dont have external speakers, so I have to use my macbook with the lid a little bit opened;
- I HATE wires! I organized all the cables under my desk inside a 'basket', but I hate that I have to SEE the wires on the table.

Do you have any idea to make it looks better? I see so many nice setups without wires out there...

By the way, my macbook is on a stand that I made myself! Its the same design as "mStand"!

I think that you just need to remove some stuff. Remove papers and books, remove glass, place shuffle dock under the stand, same with iphone also remove stuff from the bottom of the screen. Maybe even keep the Macbook lid open and use both monitors.
Hope it helps.

I agree with this. And keeping the lid open is kind of nice, having the second monitor as a place to keep stuff off the main screen, like chats, email, etc.

I liked both ideas! And I thank you two for that, but...
... my desk is like that because I am working at this moment, so the mess is "natural" AT THIS MOMENT.

The point is: EVEN when I organize everything, I dont like the ammount of cables (I use ALL of my macbook ports, except ethernet).

I will be more than happy if you could just keep suggesting ideas! :)

Tomorrow, I promise I will upload a new photo with the suggestions already put in action! ;)

Just asking for some sugestions, I cant take this 'mess' anymore.

Ah! ONE MORE THING (RIP Steve...): I *HAVE* to use my macbook in the RIGHT side because of the wires. If I use it in the left side (the one I like, unfortunately), the wires will turn around my macbook, exposing more and more the horror that they represent!

Please, more ideas! I am begging you!

I will put everything in action tonight and take new pics tomorrow!

(Liked your idea about removing the books and everything under the monitor)

How can I see just buy a wireless mouse such as Magic mouse and remove all docks. Buy iHub or something like that, to have just one USB in your MacBook.
Buy a dock for your phone. Thats it. ;)

No wireless mouse here. Macbooks cant use both keyboard + mouse in bluetooth 'mode' - for more explanations, check my profile>my threads.

I already have a hub - Dell monitor is an USB hub!
Dock? Already have! See in the pictures, its a PED 3 thought out!

I wish I had some beautiful setups like you, guys =/

How about the stand?
With or without?
I simply dont use my macbook because I have problems about paying attention in two monitors... So I have to turn on only ONE monitor =/

Use the stand, you could move it to the left, to hide the wires even more. Use the macbook open for mail, itunes, chat... but if you are distracted to much just close it, or try to make it a part of you dell monitor, like an extension.
end even thought the monitor acts as a hub, get one more, for iphone, ipod, external disk... you can even stick the hub to the bottom of you desk.

Hm... liked this idea!
I'm thinking of remove my external hard drive (the silver one - firewire 800) and plug it ONLY when I need. I just use it for backups.

More ideas, more ideas, more ideas :D

is your wire long enought to place on the floor? under the desk or something. you can also place it behind the monitor or behind the stand.

Are you using the Dell's USB hub feature with the usb uplink cable? It doesn't seem like it from the picture. You could have one usb cable into the Mac, and then run the rest through the monitor. Then you can just unplug three cables (monitor, 1 usb, and power) and you're good to go.

Yes, I am! Check the cable puggled into my ipod touch 4g. Its going straight to the left side of the Dell monitor!

I made some changes, think its going to be ready in a few hours.
Thanks for the ideas!

Anyway, more ideas? I am all ears :)

AH! And I just bought an Apple dock (not genuine, but still did...)!
With the new IOS 5, I wont need to plug it into my macbook (will use wall charger)
