Got a little bigger desk, anticipating selling my 24" ACD and moving up to the Thunderbolt Display.

You can't move USB to the other side? Seems that would release a lot of the tension.

But it wouldn't release the tension of the MiniDisplay cable... And that's my main concern.

And a USB hub is just not the ideal solution.

Design flaw from Apple?

that looks really nice!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. I know I dont have all the amazing equipment that some do but I make do with what I have :)

Havent seen one of those Shuffle's in awhile! That was my first iProduct back in the day.
Guess what? I got two of these for free (512mb and 1gb) near mint condition from friends. I got the docks of amazon (still sealed in retail packaging wooo! yeah for amazon :p ) and so far I have got one and now awaiting for the other to be shipped!

it looks to me like its your macbook air being so far out from the cable that is causing the tenstion. scoot it in a little. I looked at a hundred pictures and did not see any having the problem you are. Is it the magsafe that is causing tension? because in the pic it looks fine to me, the usb (which isn't there another one on the other side?) looks to be the one with tension from it being stretched out as far as it can go. I wouldn't say apple had a design flaw, it looks to me like your flaw. please provide more pics or something to prove me wrong.

lol, call it what you want, I think it was a design flaw. It might have been a design flaw they couldn't avoid, but it was a design flaw xD

They should have made the cables on the display a bit longer to compensate for that one.

I do not own a MBA, I am just going off the picture. But if it is in fact a design flaw, how has it gone unnoticed for this long and I don't think they expect users to stretch the cable to it's limit, so they made them closer together. Like I said, I need more proof. So many other MBA set ups on this post that I do not see anything like it.

Use it mostly for video editing and gaming. These days I'm mostly playing Battlefield 3.

iMac 27" 2.93ghz i7, 8gb ram, ATI 5850 1gb, Win7 32bit for gaming.

Speakers: KRK Rokit 8's, subwoofer KRK RP10s
Accessories: Alesis io2 soundcard, Sennheiser HD25-1 II headphones, Cyborg R.A.T 7 mouse, Logitech 3D Extreme Pro joystick.
Other: 1960s Knoll Pollock Executive chair (at the desk), reproduction Eames Lounge chair (on the left). Desk is just a standard 80s style business desk.

Well I'm trying to work on one room at a time in the new house but I keep getting antsy and flip flopping rooms. Just got the new LED TV in for the spare bedroom/second office.

PLEASE EXCUSE THE MESS!!! I'm still trying to figure out a layout.

First of all I need a larger desk, was debating these 2 which are both over 55" long versus the 39" desk i have now.

Option 1:

Option 2:

Now the mess...

The smaller LCD was and still is mounted on an articulating wall mount, the LED will be also.

Once again I'l be using arlington products for wire concealment.

The above mess will be al cleaned up like the main office/lounge downstairs

And a pic or 2 of the previous life of this desktop at the old house

Exactly, you can find USB + MDP extenders (their put together) on ebay for only a few bucks, now go race to the Apple store and pick up a MacBook Air!

I'm just not really into all these extension cables... It looks so messy.

I don't own a MacBook Air but will contact one of my friends to try...
But this is a discussion I found on the support site of Apple.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2633435?start=0&tstart=0

And another one from ARS Technica:

Maybe start a topic about this in the MacBook Air section?
