Hehe, while the desk lamp is very cool, you just showed why I don't really buy them. Whenever I buy a desk lamp it ends up being pointed at the celing or the wall because having them point down gives me headaches :( Hehe, nice though :D I like your constant posts :D

I just got the Herbert Terry Anglepoise desk lamp for a bit of stylish design to add a bit of retroness to my desk. I mean its not a cheap lamp by any means, the lamps are all hand made in Britain and I think their cheapest offering is like £99.00 about $160.00 its really well made and balanced. Its intended market is actually architects and designers of that sort. Its industrial grade I guess you could call it. The fact that I have optic eye floaters and a white desk really don't help things when you bring a bright lamp into the equation LOL so yeah thats why I have it pointed upwards. My 3D display is also slightly glossy as well and makes quite a lot of reflection

Truly stunning setup. What sort of DSLR do you use and have you got a flickr account? I love automotive photography I may get back into doing it again, although I really need access to some nicer cars as a subject, my Fiat Grande Punto, my mum & dads merc and my mates A4 S-Line Avant aint gonna cut it anymore :) I wanna photograph super cars :) I suppose I could ask my dads boss as he drives an Aston Martin DB9 Volante & he lent it to my dad for a few days when it was my prom :) thats a stunning thing

finally got my new setup somewhat how I wanted it

2011 MBA 11" 1.6 i5 hooked up to a Acer 21.5 LED monitor (very nice display)
I keep my Klipsch S4i's close by :)
Time for a printer upgrade, but don't print much from here.

Nothing special, but I like a clean desk setup (cropped out above are my files and paperwork on two built it shelves)

I now have a perfect portable laptop, but also has the feel of an iMac when I need to use my desk, which is what I wanted my setup to be.

Haven't posted my set-up in a while, so since it's sunny today I thought I'd take a quick pic.
sorry about the quality, didn't spend much time changing the aperture, ISO, etc.

click for a larger picture of it.
My Setup.jpg

Here's my Hardware:
- MacBook Air 11" i5
- Microsoft mouse, interim solution until I get a magic mouse. I like it better than my other logitec mouse.
- iPod Nano 6th. Gen Silver 16GB
- Sony CMT-EH10 Speakers

in the market for some new headphones/earphones, any suggestions?

To finish my setup I still have to:
- Buy a new phone, I still have my old iPhone 3G!
- get some new headphones
- a little wire holder so I have easy access to my cables without them looking messy or falling behind the desk
- get a Magic Mouse
- Get a kindle, want to go digital with books now!

Awesome setup(s) man, I like the collection of computers! Out of curiosity what are the specs on the machine driving the three monitors?

Thanks. It has an Asus P67 Sabertooth Motherboard, i5 2500k, 16GB RAM, HD 6870, 60GB SSD, 2 500GB and a 1TB HDD. It dual boots Lion and Windows 7.

Oh man I bet that thing is a beast :D, I am thinking of building a machine like that. If it isn't too much to ask around how much did you spend?

Yeah it is, though I can't say I do anything that really takes advantage of it. I haven't really added it up but I'm thinking it's probably around $1500, maybe less because I already had some of the parts and a couple were gifts.

Edit: With hard drive prices the way they are right now, the total for just the computer is $1560 on Newegg.

How is the G5 PM I'd really like one for my collection. I was considering either the 2.5 Quad or the 2.7 Dual processor, i'm just worried about flash video support. I have quite a few other PowerPC based macs all of which run adequately well, I have tried G5 PM in the past and they ran amazingly well its just that well its now 2012 and I am wondering if one could even replace my 13'' MBP as my final cut workstation :) not X though I prefer the previous editions.

I like it, I only really use it as a time capsule and occasionally for music so I couldn't tell you how well it works for Final Cut. I would think the quad would still be a good machine for that though. Nice setup by the way.

I had a dual 1.8 (or was it 2.0?) for awhile, and I must say, it shows its age. I used it mainly for Web browsing and watching movies, and while it would play locally-stored movies no problem, sometimes it would have trouble when I tried to play Flash content on the Internet. A restart usually fixed this though, and if you're like most people who don't leave their computer on 24/7, you may never even experience this problem.

FCP though, I can't say. I wouldn't try working with HD footage, though, that's for sure.

I actually changed the setup. (student Business Economics Amsterdam)

Hi,

First of all, excuse me for the bad-quality pictures. I am so impatient to make nicer pics, but it's about the gear, right?

Main machine:

- MacBook Air 11" 2011 4GB/128SSD with 27" Thunderbolt Display. I mainly just watch .mkv files with Plex and listen to music via Spotify and just do general browsing/essay typing.

Main sit-back-and-relax gear:

- The New iPad 32GB + 4G (black). I love it and it has replaced my iPad 2 (which I sold and is visible a few pages back). My trusty old iPad 1 is still there, as I can't sell it. Just can't.

Other Macintosh gear:

- MacBook Pro 13" 2010 2.66Ghz 60GB Vertex 3 SSD 8GB RAM. I acquired this machine for free with severe water damage. I used 97% alcohol do clean the inside and all the corrosion. The machine works perfect now! very lucky.
(student job: Working at the Apple Store where I acquired this baby).

- MacBook 13" White/Black 2009 2.13Ghz 60GB 4GB RAM Vertex 3 (60GB). I has original black MacBook parts such as the bezel and the top case on it. Quite unique and quick. (Underneath the MacBook Pro on the mStand).

Kitchen:

- iMac G5 2.0Ghz 2GB RAM 2TB HD. This is used for Spotify. Airfoil is a great tool icm with the Airport Express and The Soundsticks III which are next to the TV. (kitchen and living room are one room).

Others:

- Hercules XPS 101 speakers. Great system.
- Wireless Keyboard and Trackpad.
- mStand
- mTable
- iPhone 3G and original iPhone (2x) (not visible).

Pictures taken with iPhone 4S 32GB white. The main phone!
That's all basically.

Wow, incredibly lucky indeed. Did it have the SSD already when you got it?

I once received an aluminum MacBook (the one and only) for free. It had been water damaged, but it had sat so long before coming to me that mold had actually started to grow inside. I thought "no thanks" and put it back together. Sold it on Craigslist for $100, despite the problem.
