I really dig the mug. I see those are selling on Ebay for a bit more than I would pay for a coffee mug.

Bummer that you can't buy those at an Apple Store though.

looked at ebay just now. a white one similar to my mug is going for 50 dollars.

its a cool mug but i wouldnt be that desparate in getting one.

i guess its still cheaper then flying to cupertino and getting it yourself :p

Finally getting it OK.

Obviously the image on the right is how it used to look :D

My setup when I was in school (2003-2008) on the left. The Vaio with docking station was amazing at the time :)

And my setup today on the right. Air is also quite amazing :)

Awesome Mac set up. Too bad Apple doesn't make those Cinema Displays anymore. They were great. Could you please post a link to the wallpaper you have on you Apple Display? Thanks.

Here's my desk. I'm in the under 18 club (2 months until I'm 16) and bought what you see on my own. I started out 4 years ago with a Dimension 4550 and now I'm here. I do a ton of computer repair!

Anyway, that's a brand new 13" MacBook Air I bought back in June. The G5 is a Early 2005 dual 2GHz with a 22" Cinema Display. To the right is a Late 2006 MacBook Pro 15" which is a good Logic 9 mac!

Nice setup! I always like to see some vintage pieces thrown into the mix. I always keep a few older models around to play with. That's an impressive setup for your age too, I didnt get my first mac until I was about 22. A used iBook G3 off ebay that had a dead screen after 3 months lol.

Rawr, those vintage 23"ers have 1920x1200 8-bit IPS panels. You could downgrade and buy a 24" 1920x1200 8-bit IPS panel for $400+ or some form of 1920x1080 6-bit IPS for less.

Vintage my ass. They're still pretty relevant. At least until we get 250dpi+ monitors to replace them xD

The downsides are no HDCP and you have to find a rare DVI->ADC brick (or make one yourself). On the other hand, the monitors can be purchased for hardly anything and sometimes you'll find a deal on the DVI adaptors too.

Me too! I like some old vintage stuff and I had a iMac G4 for a week, then sold it for $150 that weekend. Then I've had some mini G4s, a BlackBook, a bunch o macs! Right now I'm looking at a PowerBook G4!

As much as I wish I had a 23 inch, 22 works fine! I just wish the brightness would go up some more. My Air is like 3x the brightness too.

So the story on the cinema display. When I visit family I try to go to flea markets to see if I can find something. So I did, this guy was selling the 22" Cinema display. And a $500 iMac. So I bought the display for $45. I get back to the house and look at ADC to DVI adapters (I didn't have the G5 yet) and the guy I just bought the display from had the ADC adapter on ebay and he buys storage lockers and sells what's inside.

So I leave to go back home and we were in a 2003 Ram 2500 truck and my mom put the screen flat on the back seat then put my suitcase right on top of the leg. Halfway home the leg broke. So I get home and want to hack the ADC cable into a DVI. That failed. So now it was just easier to get another screen for $65 off ebay.

So I fixed it all up. Expensive though. I think my only motive to fix it was the fact I loved how it looked. And then I bought a G5 and so on from there.

Why when I called Apple about repairing my iBook g3 back in 2004 did they refer to it as a vintage machine then? Don't kill the messenger.

Nice! I had an iMac g4 17" for a year or two then sold it on eBay. Also a power mac g3 with matching Cinema Display, PowerBook g4 12" which is still one of my favorite notebooks due to the size and still having FireWire and an optical drive. Currently I just have what's listed in my signature. Had to slow down since my son was born lol.

New appartment, new, bigger office. I'll get back with more pictures (dont mind the mess), but I'm trying to see if I can pull this off:

what kind of monitor is that and the res and stuff. I like how thin the border is around the edges. looks real big too but still usable.

just received my new Dell U2412M monitor :) Love it already!

Wow, looks good!

This might be a silly question but I don't have a MacBook, how do you power on yours when it's closed an tucked away like that? Do you have to pull it out, open it and power it on, and then shove it back in?

It's a Samsung LED 40". Thing is - I moved into a new flat, and there's a 46" Phillips mounted on the wall in the living room. I can either sell my Samsung, or find a way to use it. I'm trying this out.

Problem is, its a TV. So all I can squeeze into the enourmous screen is 1080p. I would LOVE to have much higher resolution, thereby alot of space on my desktop, but I dont. And that bothers me, alot. So much I'm thinking about selling the TV to buy a Apple 27" Thunderbolt.

Good thing is, though, by setting the source to "PC" in the Samsung menu, I get quite crisp (well, its not exactly retina) image. I just wish I could make everything much smaller (something like 3x the current resolution).

So if anyone knows any tips. For example to "zoom out" the size of Safari, please let me know :)

yea 40 inches is a little huge. I have a 37 inch samsung tv and there is no way i could use it as a monitor. I think its a good plan for you to sell your tv and get a thunderbolt display. especially if you already have a tv.

What speakers are those?

Altec Lansing MX 5021 White version, they are discontinued however im sure you can buy them used somewhere, maybe Ebay. They sound great and they weren't that expensive back when i bought them!

@dsh3 yeah, unfortunately i have to do that but i use the mbp as a monitor sometimes aswell, but really like how i can tuck it away and just use the display :)
