What do you do with the build? Do you sell on CL or eBay? I sold a watercooled PC on eBay before, and listed my Uncle's iMac for him, but both times we got less than we wanted on eBay. Then the ridiculous seller fees (10% + paypal 3.5% fee), combined with UPS charging $50-$60 for shipping. It just wasn't worth it. I want to sell my gaming PC, i5 3570k, GTX 680, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Asrock Z77 OC Formula, 750watt Corsair PSU, Asus 24 inch 1080p monitor, Thermaltake Level 10 GT case, etc. I paid $1800 with shipping for the parts, case, and monitor. Where to sell?

Craigslist.

Craigslist for sure. Easy to get prices you're comfortable with for your stuff, and no fees or shipping to worry about. I've sold literally a couple hundred things on CL and I think two on eBay. The only time I use eBay is when I need to sell something rare/unique/hard to sell that requires a larger audience because the *right* person needs to see it.

Hi guys.

Some beautiful setups here: I wish I had the space for a dedicated place for my Apple stuff, but the end of the lounge is fine! It went through several 'revisions' before I ended up buying a desk, I wanted a home made one. It looked ok, but as time passed, I wanted something a little less cluttered.

The old one was made with an Ikea Expedit unit and a gloss white kitchen panel cut to size for the desktop/keyboard tray, with a small gloss white kitchen cupboard on the right. I wanted to build it from scratch to fit the alcove as none on the market would slot straight in. It looked better than it sounds, honest! But over time, as I like to fiddle about with stuff, it ended up looking a little sloppy and was a bit overpowering in the corner of the lounge. So off to Ikea I went!

So, here is the most recent picture, with the only difference being the replacement of the iPhone 4 with a iPhone 5. Much more simple! The WD MyBooks are hidden down the rear of the desk (space behind the headphones).

Spec is as per my signature, and the old setup is the picture on the left!

whered/what lights are lighing the desk behind it

I absolutely love a minimalist look. Here is my current (work in progress) office/guest bedroom setup.

I'm still looking for a great LED desk light that is very simple and doesn't stand out (to go next to my iMac). If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I'm going to eventually get rid of the black desk lamp and put some nice spot lights above it.

I'll be picking up a BlueLounge cable box to hide the cords and will make those loose wires vanish.

I'm open to feedback as I'm still working on this room (I love all white and simple clean designs - big focus on organization too).

whatwhere did u get the accent lighting for the desk

Ok thanks, my brother in law offered me $1500 (I paid $1800), so I may list on Craigslist just to see if I can get a better offer.

Thanks,

Had a few minutes tonight to kinda rough this all out. Let me know what you all think :)

Debezeled 3x Qnix 27" LED monitors. 4320x2560 total resolution.

It's not finished yet. I'm going to paint all the bezels black and add a VESA mount to the back and bend up a box to cover up the back side.

Where did you get that keyboard?

Custom job, had matte black decals fabricated. A bit tedious to apply, but overall happier with it than anything else I've tried. Have a nice feel and still retain the responsiveness of the keyboard unlike a silicone cover. Actually ended up costing <$20... If you're interested I can point you to who made it.

Won't decals age and start to deteriorate as you use the keyboard? Looks real professional though.

Yeah, definitely a concern, but for what it cost it's worth seeing how long it will hold up. It would even look good if I removed the black from the letters and left the black on the less used number/function keys, so that may be my move if they begin peeling up. FWIW, the stickers are perfectly sized, just slightly smaller than the keys in all directions, but are still not imperceptible at the edges due to the thickness of the decal. It has a really high quality matte finish (actually feels and looks very similar to Apple's aluminum) that I suppose required it to be a thicker decal. Time will tell...

Here is a link to the seller on Etsy: Tloveskin

I couldn't find any products with just solid black keys, I suppose because most Macs have black keyboards, but I noticed on the product page for this black gradient version that I could message the seller with any custom requests. So I asked for a matte black version with no gradient to fit the US wireless keyboard, and she responded within a day that it would be no problem. I ordered it with my specifications and it arrived from China in about a week.

Perhaps it will become popular enough for her to add this as an official version of the product. I just received it so it is probably recent enough for you to say you saw someone else had one just like it, and she can duplicate what she made for me.

I just went through this whole thread and found your setup to be absolutely perfect. (No offense others. I like your setups too!)

I have to ask you though; could you please post a photo of your setup, showing the whole desk? I'd love to see more of your place ^^

P.S. I love that Hardgraft slipper! :)

Best regards,
Alex

Thanks for the comments! I should be able to get a good shot within the next week or so. Stay tuned!
