The A2's are my reference monitors nowadays, my mate had a pair a few years back, and we used them all the time so I know the exact sound that comes from them.
They are VERY powerful and have a decent bass response when cranked, but at lower levels you really lose it, due to their small size, but you can still feel the initial punch even at low levels. All depends on music preference I guess, I engineer rock music and listen to rock and punk, not the dub-heavy scene so not so picky with HUGE BASS.

I was choosing between the A2's and A5's, and only went with the A2's due to having a student budget!
But I would still highly recommend the A2's, perfect for their size and price!
Would you say it's got a flat response? I'm looking for a studio monitors that are small, very very small.

They're pretty flat, the low end is missing a little, but mids and highs are pretty decent.
There's obviously MUCH better variants, but for the price these are very good.
I use them for mixing 90% of my tracks, then use my universities Gene's to perfect the low end.

Got bored last week and thought I would have a go with my fisheye lens attachment for my 5S. Quality isn't too bad, but I could have most likely got a better result from my Hero, but meh.

Since you have pretty similar specs on each machine, is either one designated to a certain task at all?

Surprised there haven't been more nMP setups on here yet.

Here's one! ;-)

I haven't tried to clean up the wires. It's the same wires that were in the old Mac Pro, so it's not any better or worse. Actually one fewer wire, 2 SAS wires became one Thunderbolt.

What size are those displays?

It's Mitch! Mitch is still alive! (OK, I already knew this from Twitter but still...) And there's a beloved pic of the office (since all of the others were taken down from the office page :D) hahaha nice!

Are those the 3 30" cinemas? Still trudging along, eh?!?

I'm curious as to how quiet it is as well, one would think those fans would really get to where they're working hard with that limited space.

Monitors are 30" as AQUADock noted. I bought them 6-7 yrs ago; this is their third Mac Pro.

The new Mac Pro is quiet. Even running CPU @ 30% for 30 minutes, the chassis as a whole becomes quite warm but the fan remains <800 rpm. I can hear a sine wave UPS that is 15 ft behind me over the new Mac Pro 18 inches from me.

I haven't done any side-by-side comparisons. This was really about upgrading my secondary workstation from a Mac Mini that kept locking up and behaving badly with 30" displays.

Old Pro is a 2.4 ghz 12 core with the Mac Sapphire card. Aperture on the new Mac is definitely faster, and resuming a large memory development VM from the internal flash on the new Pro is materially faster than the Areca SAS RAID in the old Pro.

Too many words for a picture thread, so:

Now that's one beautiful machine! Side note: any hope that the office page will be revived, Mitch? The black text on white is just boring now...:D lol

I am flattered that folks enjoyed the page so much, but it's not likely to come back any time soon. Unfortunately, a particular person who enjoyed the page crossed the line from enjoying into stalking both me and another famous office fellow to the point that it just quit being fun. :-\

OK, here's a pic from 2002. There were two G3s under the desk and some more monitors off to the left; I just never thought anyone would see these pictures. I think the only thing I still have in this picture is the green tape measure.
