Mind elaborating what components you used to build this? I'm guessing it's an ikea countertop and kitchen island legs or something like that.

Sure - it's a VARDE kitchen countertop in birch (57 1/2 x 25 3/8) and the UTBY bar table underframe.

The UTBY usually has a thicker non-wood top on it so the screws that come with it meant for nailing the top to the frame don't really work with the thinner but much more solid VARDE, so the VARDE is actually just sitting on top not screwed in. The underframe and the countertop are both really heavy so it's not a problem.

Additionally, I had to go to AC Moore and get some wooden cubes to put the frame on top of to raise it another couple of inches. I think now I have it at around 38" which is perfect for me at 5'5".

----------

I spy a Wheelock's Latin textbook...I took all four semesters of Latin that my college offers. Some call me crazy because they were electives. :p

I bought it to learn on my own, but you can clearly see where that endeavor ended up lol.

Are we still talking about the computer?

Hope so... I'm a girl so yeah hopefully the other doesn't apply. ;)

Thought I added this here too..
Since it has not been possible to fit an articulating arm to my budget I decided to build something my self. Obviously no height movement possible, but does the job on freeing desktop space. Thinking a way to hide my air from the desk too..

Thanks very much for the info asec92. At 6"2 this might not be the solution for me. Probably going to have to bite the bullet and pony up for a geek desk or something like that. Thanks again :)

I think that is the best desk layout I have ever seen. Simplistic and stylish.

Very nice, could you flip the left hand monitor round the other way? I think it would look betted with less of a bezel between the monitors

Thank you! And no, it only flips one way, unfortunately.

What is the the height of your desk?

In that pic it was at 70-72cm if I remember correctly. It turned out to be too low for comfortable use so I raised it to 80cm a few days later, the same height it used to be before I moved it around. :)

Small update of my home office. Basic stuff, no fuzz :)

Jockeo,
Enjoy your desk. Do you find your movement restricted when your wife or others use the iMac? Was the desk home made or a certain brand? Have a desire to mount one similarly at small kitchen desk. Your lights in the shelf above were a great touch.

In America I wish to get rid of the carpet we so heavily used. I know my English Mastiff would make a mess of even Bamboo wood. Your Wood floors are so beautiful.
Enjoyed!
Michael

Awesome setup,

you could put the air into shelf thing next to the desk and run the cables through.

Does screensaver actually make sense for a LED screen? I read somewhere for the LEDs it's better to be turned off rather than... well, work all the time.

Looks great though. Maybe I'm getting the picture as a wallpaper!

Honestly I am not sure. I think my displays are set to turn off after about thirty mins anyway.
