You obviously take dust very seriously, thats like a 6 pack of compressed air cans in the bottom left there:eek:

There's 8 actually. I do alot of troubleshooting, as well as minor upgrades for computers. If I saved up all the dust that came from what I've seen, it's... yeah.

uhohzitzcooky whats that sony thing?

Except for the fact I don't see a door on the front, the size and logos (I think I can make out "DVD" and "dts" on the bottom) make it look like it could be some sort of external optical drive. Or maybe some sort of video decoder/input device?

It's an external DVD burner from Sony. Mac Compatible. I bought it for my iBook before I got my mini. I figured since it works so well, I can go with the lower mini and still have dvd dl capabilities. Use the price difference to up my memory to 2Gb.

ah i thought it was a dvd writer, looks nice. debating about getting an external dvd writer at somepoint to give my macbook pro drive a bit of a rest, and to add dual layer capabilities. but i just got a lacie d2 hd and rack mount so i will probably get the lacie d2 burner.

Am I the only one here who gets sad/confused when they see someone who has spent 5-15k on their setup, screens, periphs, speakers, game consoles, games, etc, and then they can't even get a nice desk to put it in? Or they can't even paint the wall, or have other furniture or even a nice frame on the wall? How much is some drywall to cover up 1972 wood paneling, a hundred bucks? Come on.

Priorities...

System of your dreams that will do anything or system that will do this and that, but a room that is amazing?

Me I want both... but if I ever build a house, it'll be a dream system first, room second :)

Drywall is fleeting, pixels are eternal.

er, wait.

First post!
I've been eyeing these shots for a long time, and now that I have a new camera, here I am.

Do I see like 8 compressed air cans in the rack on the left side? What do you need all that much air for!?

Also, can you tell me what the Sony branded device is (just by the Macbook)? Is it an external HDD?

Nice setup.

For heaven's sake, try reading the thread before asking questions! BOTH of those have been answered further up on THIS VERY PAGE.

EDIT: damn, beaten!

It's not even like he's not used the 'search'. He just hasn't bothered looking at all.

Sorry folks, my mistake. I could've sworn that I didn't see it being asked before. My intention was not to be ignorant or anything.

Again, I apologize for my stupidity.

it's ok. The forums seem to be full of people asking the same things without searching or looking harder that directly infront of the cursor. :) No harm done - I don't want to seem harsh.

I'm going to get a torrent of negativity probably, but I don't care.

I think that line of Sony VAIOs was awesome and very well designed. We've had one for 5 years and it's still plenty fast for todays standards. LOVE the flip up keyboard, too! :)

That's a fundamentally flawed argument seeming as it's speed has got absolutely nothing to do with it being a Sony Vaio, but rather the era in which it was released; any other machine in the same price bracket at the time of purchase time would be pretty much identical in terms of speed.

Larger photo? I like those. Kinda looks like the TAM. Is it noisy though?

That was a snip from the guy above's photo. When the mother wakes up, I'll go in and snap a pic. It's hers. I think it's quiet, then again, I don't hear the so called 'hum' from my iMac's backlight. lol

My dad only paid like, $2500 or so for it. That's not bad. Of course you can find faster, but it's plenty fast for anything we need to do on it. Not sure I see your point... I wasn't comparing the speed to the fact that it's a VAIO.
