Past - July 2015, the last time I posted here. Fibre direct to my apartment and the 22 inch monitor, and were the updates then.

P7070001.jpg

Present - July 2018...... A 2017 MacBook Air, and WiFi added to my internet connection, both new this week. Replaced the seven year-old small wired
keyboard with a full sized one about eighteen months ago.

present set up.jpg

The early 2009 Mac Mini (which replaced my original 2005 Mini, the first computer I owned) soldiers on, still with the original HDD, but with an extra 4 GB RAM and updated to Mountain Lion in 2014, then El Capitan last year. Dunno how much longer it will last, but it will be repaired or replaced with a new Mac Mini when something does fail.

I prefer using a desktop computer to a laptop, but times and needs have changed. Last term I was taking my Mini to use in class a couple of times a week. Before that it was a couple or three times a term. For the coming term I'll need a computer in class most days. In addition, my life could move into a more itinerant phase as I consider returning to my home country. All in all, stumping up several weeks pay (as a quasi-academic in a partially developed country) for a new MacBook Air seemed a prudent move..... so I took the plunge a few days ago.

Fibre came to the neighbourhood late 2014. 3BB provided a connection direct to the Mini (no smartphone or tablet in the household). Now with the Air, an upgrade to include WiFi.

No apologies for the "as it is" setting, in contrast to the neatly laid out set-ups seen in most pictures on they thread. It is a real workspace where I do most of my marking and preparation as a teacher, not a House & Garden photoshoot.

Nice setup. It'll be a long time before your 2009 fails. I have a few Minis, one of them is a 2006 that has been running 24/7 for most of it's life and still works albeit with a HD replacement and upgraded RAM.

I am replacing my 15" MBP with a new 13" i7 MBP, and I decided to upgrade my monitor to an LG 32UD99 32" 4k monitor. It puts out 60w over the USB-C cable which makes it all the docking station I need. The bar-coded HP is my work laptop and it connects to the screen via a DisplayPort cable (I work from home).

Good to see a proper work space that is obviously used, rather than the pristine Home & Garden type shots posted by many.

needs moar laptops

Needs less, actually. The 15" will get sold after Apple looks at and deals with the keyboard.

My house will definitely not win any prizes from Home & Garden... But that's ok, I am too busy living in it.

Old blogging Emac

Hi!

This is my old Emac, from where my girlfriend like to blog. It works as the first day, but obviously is too old even to see a video in Youtube, but it keeps the feeling and look of the early days of Apple. I Love it.

I would post a picture of my setup but it's basically a laptop with a coffee of coffee beside it.

Ah your 09’ Macbook brings back memories. I still have mine but rarely use it.

How is yours holding up? My bottom panel’s rubber cover is coming off and it cost $150.00 to get a new one from iFixit.

Don’t feel comfortable buying from eBay or some of the Amazon resellers.

They should still make a laptop like this still. Still looks modern to this day

Agreed! I loved the white iBook and Macbook. Plus I loved the colours of the old iMac and iBook. Also the old iPod nano with the various colours. I still have a green one but the battery is shot and the screen has some dead pixels.

Minimal changes but it has been a while now:

4CVPA5R.jpg

Ad4BJ6f.jpg

Mostly changed position of monitors, sold my TB Display after 6 years of use (a tear was shed), bought a Dell U2515H to fill the gap and floating on an arm like with the Dell P2715Q I already had.

Sold my MacBook Air 13" 2012 after 5 years and bought a MacBook Pro Retina 15" 2013.

Bought a QNAP TS451 to house the 4 x 3TB WD Reds which were originally in the Mac Pro. Mac Pro is not on 24/7 anymore, barely use it, but it's difficult to part with it, should I?

In search of a way to quickly switch all inputs between Mac Pro, MBP and my work notebook (Dell XPS 15 9650). Anyone any experiences with a decent 4K, audio, USB(3.0) switch please let me know! :)

Desk please?
- Looking to part with my Jerker after 3yrs far too bulky
