I did hear what I assume is the "coil whine". It's not obtrusive - just sounds like a computer doing its thing.
I still have a mess of cables to sort out. Making sure all the apps are running properly.
Adobe seemed to hang for a bit as I took 4 attempt to log in, but all good now. I'll be honest mine is pretty quiet.

I'll be bringing home a monitor to test tomorrow. A nice 27 BenQ.

We will also be migrating to the other spare room in a few weeks (If I get the decorating done!) so this is just a temporary set up.

I did a test in ON1 Photo Raw 2018 - All six cores maxed, fan on full tilt. Up and down. To process 20 raw photos, export hi-res jpgs and place in a folder took about as long as it did on my old iMac. I'm a bit surprised really. It did what it was supposed to do, but I think I expected much faster processing. I'll be testing more over the next few days....

Sometimes the apps don’t fully utilise the available hardware from what I’ve read.
Adobe possibly being one of them. I was far too tired for testing today. But I’ve not seen any beach balls in the little use it’s had, so that’s a step up on my iMac.

More testing with photo editing programs.

Fast Raw Viewer, Graphic Converter, Aurora HDR and Luminar run great with no apparent issues.

DxO Photolab and ON1 Photo Raw both run very well. The only time the fans run full is when exporting raws to jpegs, not more than 10 or so at a time. Then it quiets right down. Normal temp range is between 90-108 F, though when processing at full tilt, the temp goes up over 200.

I was very stupid Thursday. I rearranged my set up and added the loaned 27” BenQ. Also decommissioned my iMac. So I connected my external I use for TM back ups. Anyway I suddenly noticed how much noisier it was? Weird. Then it occurred to me the noise I could hear was my external spinner drive!
What an idiot!

Welp, made some changes as I modernize. Ready to let my 24" ACD go after 10 flawless years, and moved things around. That lay flat Belkin wireless charger is about to be dumped for that Logitech stand one that Apple sells too.

This i7 4ghz GTX1060 Hackintosh served me well since its inception around 2010, it's been through a few hardware upgrades throughout the years, it's hard to believe how long it's been already. I finally retired it last month after getting the new mac mini 2018.

I upgraded my chair, and had to replace the water cooling unit in my desktop. Some pictures? ^_^ There IS a Mac in there!

This looks amazing! Where did you get the desk & lamps? And is there a blue led strip under the desk? Great color coordination :)

Here is my new 2018 Mac mini set up. i7, 16GB, 512 GB, hooked up to my 3 older Dell U2312HM monitors. The third monitor was a bit tricky to get working (no HDMI input), but figured it out. Thought about going the one big 4K monitor route, but decided to stick with the 3x1080p route for now. This replaced my old 2012 Quad mini. Quite a bit more expensive than my old 2012 was, but I love it!

Love the lighting. Well Done. Glad to see some Hackintoshes around here. These days a Hack is more a real Mac than Apple can make.
