Here's my M1 Max MacBook Pro 16" hooked up to my 20" Cinema Display. The Cinema Display still is a beauty nearly 16 years later and works like a charm. I also pulled every default wallpaper off of my 2006 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and have the entire collection saved to my new machine!
So unique! Love it. Any plans for a new Monitor?

Mac mini seems to be more popular than I thought.

I am always recommending them over iMacs for home users. Far more versatile and economical.

I kinda see a theme going on there. ocean winding road, cacti on edges of desk with what looks like oranges (Apple HomePod Mini's). Nicely done.

Moved in my new flat about 2 month ago.
I've brought a Dell 22" display for 30 bucks, I'm really on the cheap but I wanted a second monitor so here we are
Here's my Hackintosh setup, with my MacBook Pro
The Dell is running Catalina and Ubuntu Unity 21.10, the MacBook Pro is running Catalina and Kubuntu 20.04
I found myself wanting to use Linux back again, and I remembered why, the customization and the full control you have over your operating system is awesome, wayyyy beyond what macOS or Windows offers you.
I keep macOS around for mixing on Serato Pro and for iTunes syncing with my iPhone tho (Yeah I still like to have some of my library on my iPhone, even tho I have Spotify subscription, some of my stuff ain't available on it, and also just for when you don't have cellular network)

Now I'm really looking forward replacing that crappy Dell keyboard with a Apple USB Keyboard, the one that came before the Aluminium USB. I really like its design and the fact that the key really have some travel, not like the laptop keys on the Alu keyboard

I found a few old pictures of my desk back then at my parents home when I was a child. Purchased my first Macbook Pro 13'' 2009 from new. I was pretty happy about that setup so I could get rid of my old IBM from 2003 (which I did some OS X desktop mods in Windows XP):

This was from 2009 a few weeks after I purchased my MBP (I was 15) with an ugly table... :

394909.jpg

In 2011 I added a 23'' Cinema Display to my setup and bought those highly recommended Harman & Kardon Soundsticks II. Also went for a bigger table from IKEA Galant. That time I went to high school and doing some research stuff for biology class. A time before I bought my first smartphone (I think it was an iPhone 3GS). Just look over that chair which was the only left over of the old table:

424971.jpg

Another angle and rearranged my setup in 2012:
On that picture: MacBook Pro 13'' 2009 with 2.53GHz, 4GB Ram, 320GB HDD, 23'' Cinema Display, Apple iSight, Soundsticks II, Magic Mouse & Keyboard, Remote, HTC One X, Nexus 7 (1st gen).

447202.jpg

In meantime I replaced my MBP with a retina version from 2013 (2.6GHz i5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD), bought a 30'' Cinema Display and put it next to my 23'' one. Unfortunately I never took any pictures until I moved from my parents house to my girlfriend in 2018. Also changed monitors and used my setup for amateur video and audio editing next to my studies. Table's still the same:

WhatsApp Image 2022-01-29 at 12.58.19.jpeg

In 2021 I moved my desk to a much larger corner, changed to 2x 27'' Thunderbolt Displays which I used a few months. I wasn't happy with that setup as most time when I woke up my book from standby one TBD started to flicker unless I pull out the powercord and plug it back a few times. I had 3 displays and in no matter what constellation I had there was always one display flickering:

WhatsApp Image 2022-01-29 at 13.03.25.jpeg

So a few months later I sold all 3 TBD's and went back to the old Cinema Displays. Replaced the 23'' one with a 2nd 30'' and this is since then my current setup. Pretty nice my 2013 MBP can handle such a big setup with enough power. Thought my graphic card can't handle 2x30'' Cinema Displays. Next upgrade will be a new book, but I'll wait until my current will be 10 years old. And other people first can solve the connection problem between newer M1 Macs and 30'' Cinema Displays with Duallink-DVI.

I bought the adaptor used in this video and it allowed me to use an 30 inch Cinema Display with my MacBook Pro 14 with the m1 max

Amazing! Thank you for taking us through that. All the way from 2009. to 2021. ?

You are still rocking the iPod, and is that a Magic Trackpad under the right Cinema Display?

New WFH setup. I finally got a new bigger desk (an old Vitra design with a custom top). Using a 2009 27" iMac as my second display for my MacBook Air M1. I want to swap out the numeric keyboard and old trackpad for the smaller Magic Keyboard and the Magic Trackpad 2. I miss the retina sharpness on the big screen but I'm loving the screen real estate and ergonomic height. Not pictured is a 11" iPad Air 4 & a work silver MacBook Air M1.

That is a really lovely desk! I love a bright set up. What is the custom top if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks! I got some 18mm Matt White Melamine Faced Birch Plywood cut-to-size. It's super heavy compared with a chipboard IKEA top but you can drill into it and it should last a lifetime

Thanks, I saw this too. But it only shows connecting one 30" Cinema Display. I'm using two of them which I heard it can't support it until now. Unless someone other has tried this out. I'm not going with both of my Cinema Displays into an Apple shop and try it ?

I was also surprised I found those old pictures. It's nice to see how my workplace evolved over time.

Yes, I love those iPods, use my 7th gen almost every day and my 5th gen also very frequently. I have many other iPods which I left at my parents house. Maybe I'll pick them up and display it somewhere in my apartment.
Good eyes, it's a Magic Trackpad under the right one.

Ha, yeah it's a HÅG kneeling chair. It's not the most comfortable, but it saves on space and it's meant to be good for posture...

Here’s my setup that started when I took up photography as a hobby. started in 2017 with a 2015 MacBook Pro and a used 1440p lg monitor on a very small (I’m 6’3”) kids ikea desk.

A few paid shoots later I moved to a used iMac and now to a brand new MacBook Pro 14” M1 Max. An LG 32UL950-W. An ikea Idasen sit stand desk. Apple TV, stereo HomePod speakers, Kensington Thunderbolt 4 dock and a few other extras.

This biggest thing I wanted was a setup without wires. I just have the one wire left. From the MacBook Pro to the dock and I can’t think of anyway to hide. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Unless, wireless Thunderbolt technology will arrive, I think that's the closes you will get!
Nice setup, good job! :)

Probably my most favourite Mac Setup and yes, this includes my iMac Pro + M1 Macbook + iPad Air 4 universal control main setup!

IMG_3078.JPG

I'm running this ultra upgraded SE/30 desk setup as my main retro development station and I'm extremely proud of it. Dual monitors, one of them being an Apple Portrait Monitor + networking via ethernet + external cd drive + Dual CPU (040 40 Mhz + 030 50 Mhz) + 64 MB of ram + external floppy drive.

It can also browse the modern web (sans CSS) thanks to a HTTPS Proxy hosted on a raspberry pi that strips SSL/TLS/HTTPS from the websites and just sends the HTML Over. Heck, I even got it to watch Youtube videos :).

Every minute spent coding or playing on this machine makes me love apple more and more. I so wish they'd do a Compact Anniversary Mac with an M1 chip or something. I'd throw a lot of money at it.

Nice, love the clock and the lightsaber - how do you find the Logitech Streamcam? I'm tossing up between that and the Brio and not sure if the 4K capability is worth it for Zoom calls.

I haven’t tried the brio but the streamcam is great for my monitor. The G Hub software works really well to creat a profile for FaceTime that works for me.

Haha!! Thank you!!! The clock is a vinyl record cut to shape. I bought it from Etsy and the lightsaber a Legacy lightsaber from Disney. I only got it a few days ago. Not as great as a neopixel lightsaber but not as expensive either and I really just wanted the hilt which is screen accurate. All metal and so so beautiful!
The remote control interface is a Wacom Express keys. It’s just a handy shortcut doodad that saves me from using my keyboard

Thank you!! And yes it’s a Keychron K2 with a set of their custom keycaps. I’ve got this weird black and white theme throughout. Almost like a stormtrooper died all over my desk ?
