Well, if anything it is more an aesthetic purpose, however, thanks to it, I recently found out that a USB 3.2 flash drive I bought of amazon, is in reality just usb 3.0. It shows the connection type for all storage devices connected. Now, I have checked with other devices I have, and thing is accurate.Interesting, why is there a digital display on the hub? As in what benefit does it ad? How’s the bandwidth per port? Thx
Display serves the purpose of configuration, really. I can configure the bandwith, at which temp does the fan kick in to cool it and see names and types of devices connected, like monitor type resolution and Hz it is putting out. Also hub temp and individual connector temperatures.
USB Hub itself is USB 3.2, I can't answer all your technical questions, as I am simply not that advanced, but here is a Link to the product: https://www.dockcase.com/products/dockcase-usb-c-smart-hb-8-1. All the USB ports are 3.2 on the front, including the USB-C and the back ones are 2.0 for peripherals. HDMI is 2.0 but it shows DP 1.4 for some reason And it puts out 4K 60Hz. there is also a Gigabit ethernet port as well.
I like also how it's designed, with HDMI, ethernet and peripherals on the back, for the M1 Macs with TB3 ports on the left.
I bought it in the early stages, via Kickstarter. I believe they have a FAQ section there on the product page as well.
Overall, I am happy with it!
I know it's pricey, considering what you can find, but it just looks cool and is fast!
Hope I helped.
