Alvse and Swadd1er what monitors are you using? Currently trying to pick one to go with my MacBook Pro 13" and those both look nice. Though I am also looking at the Dell S2715H as another option. Would love the Apple Thunderbolt display but a little rich for my blood currently.

Thanks,
Hunter

Mine are a pair of LG 24EB23's. A couple years old. Probably update them sometime in the new year.

Ummm, where is the computer?

Judging by the route of the wires, its in the cabinet on the left.

Correct! There is a PC and Mac Mini in the cabinet on the left. On hot days, I just leave the cabinet open a bit. But most times, the PC is off anyways, so heat is not an issue.

All of them get a fair amount of usage actually, part of it is I have ocd (the real one, not the "internet definition") and certain devices in my head serve different functions. For instance, my MacBook pro 13 is my out and about laptop, so this one is something that I know in my head things might happen. The 15 inch MacBook is my around the house MacBook, as well as my editing machine when I don't want to sit at my desk on my iMac, the iMac is the work machine. The 6 plus is the phone I use when I need to have a mini iPad while I'm only carrying that (so a day out or traveling, something like that) and then I'll rotate between that and the 6. The iPad mini is my out of the house (it even fits in my winter coat) iPad while the air is my around the house one.

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but it's also my passion and I resell these things so it doesn't cost me much to do, so why not.

Fair enough. I have somewhere in between Internet OCD and the real thing, but I would feel a sense of device overkill which would force me to want to purge and consolidate. Heck, I even have a hard time justifying owning an iPad Air in between my iMac and 6 Plus. I feel like I go out of my way to use just because I bought it.

Making a new workspace in my bedroom for my new macbook pro. Also have an iMac in my basement office for my main work.

Finally replaced my ageing 1,1 Mac Pro with something a little more modern. My first hackintosh. Running rock solid stable under Yosemite. Everything aside from audio worked out of the box - I was so surprised at how easy it's got to get OS X on pretty much any half-modern system these days. Specs below, all for a lower price than a baseline Mac mini. Crazy.

Chuffed with the cable management, too.

How noisy does it get in that case with those components?
Thinking about something similar, but somewhat hesitant - I want a very quiet build.

Mine these days. Nothing special. PC at work, personal PC laptop for work and my MBP for home use. Wife uses it more than I do anymore.

It's much, much quieter than my Mac Pro ever was, even under heavy load.

The power supply is whisper quiet, and the same goes for the GPU when it's sat doing anything other than editing video or gaming (as is to be expected). The intake fan (standard BitFenix Spectre 120mm) blows over the drives at 600rpm, so that's silent too.

The only component that makes any noticeable noise is the CPU fan. It idles at 1300-1400rpm, which is a bit high for my liking. It keeps the CPU damn cool (35 degrees C), but in my eyes I'd rather it idle at 1000rpm and be totally silent.

Under load (Handbrake, encoding video) it spins up to a maximum of 1750rpm, and it makes a fair bit of noise compared to the rest of the system, but it's still quieter than anything I've ever used before.

As a rough comparison, I'd say my MacBook Air's fan, when spinning at 6000rpm is about two to three times louder than the Hack when running at 1750rpm.

If I had got a Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo and then i reckon I would have a virtually silent system.

iMac 21.5" (mid-2011)
Retina MacBook Pro 13" (late-2013)
iPhone 6 Space Gray, 64GB
iPad Mini 16GB Wi-Fi (not pictured)

Entering my last 12 months at uni, I'm pretty happy with this setup! :) I doubt I'll upgrade any of the above, anytime soon.

I wish I had a workspace like that while I was at uni.

Setup is basically the same, but switched my Air for 13" retina and moved it off the table.

The G4 Cube has been modified to be sort of time capsule. It has internals from airport extreme and external usb harddrive..

Was browsing this thread over the holidays and got the itch to do things with my setup. LED strip added today, ordered a 10" subwoofer for more oomph, and considering swapping the ACD for an LG ultra wide.

What sort of mounting system have got going w/ the Cinema Display?

I have aluminium console under the table bolted to the table legs and then other console as a mounting pole for a standard wall svivel mount for the display.
