It's been my working place for years now and became even more so during covid. You can even see the color on the wood is starting to wear off. 😅

The adapter is this one: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMEL2AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb-c-to-thunderbolt-2-adapter?fnode=4157d5b47a2c518df40913f0b718a952eed6f31a9dd06f69e7c0a9da412cae53be325526ce39356eab44f8c2c8252affd4a89c687d69f4ae78dd2a383e56cb29c89b256ec61602b2bb5902c705d1682ccadd9c51fa5d692f1712b3991c8fe4ed38dd8bdcea75b645decfb83995668386&fs=f=adapter&fh=4595%2B45b0

Sadly, it doesn't provide power. But neither did the original one. It's used for the screen, speakers, webcam, ethernet port and any USB you plug in the back. The Thunderbolt Display has 2 cables: Thunderbolt 2 and MagSafe. They worked perfectly with my previous 2015 15" MBP, but MagSafe on these newer models is different, so I still gotta use that. But to power it, you still have to use the new MagSafe or the USB-C port.

Oh, I just remembered, I then also needed an adapter for MagSafe, because the monitor had 1st gen and the MBP had the 2nd gen, which was a bit wider. This is the adapter:

Sadly Apple doesn't provide a MagSafe 1 to 3 adapter...

Thank you. Unfortunately, this one won't work for me as I'm still running Old Skool with my 2009 Cinema Display. I've found several adapters but only one with pass through. Someone on here has offered me theirs (which reminds me I must reply to them).

Got a new stand for my M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro. My Mac is paired to a Studio Display 27".

Certainly improved from last summer!

Now all I need to do if figure out how to make the Cinema Display not block the speaker, but that's easy!

Last summer (the horror of using an MG10XU as an audio interface): View attachment 2163108

What do y'all think? Any suggestions for further improvement?
How's that Pro 40 treating you these days? Mine started having major issues around Catalina, and I finally replaced it with a newer focusrite USB-C box which works much better with Ventura. I was never sure if it was my old pro 40 crapping out or if it was slow death by driver rot.

I can’t say it works super great, but I think I also just need to wipe and reinstall. Since I posted that picture, I’ve stopped using the Mac Pro actually—I don’t know if it’s gonna be temporary or not, but I was just having too many issues with Logic Pro with that old CPU.

But I got the Pro 40 for free, so I need to figure out a way to keep using it with my MacBook—it’s a good interface…I mean it’s old, but it works fine for me, so I’d love to keep using it, just that the Mac Pro was being an old piece of s**t to me, which at this point I’m just so frustrated… idk why it can’t just work, but whatever…

After 7 years in our house, finally starting to get the office squared away. Still need an end table but close enough. Spent all this money on built ins and they're super shallow and I hate having my back to the door lol. Luckily already had an outlet on the floor, just need to do a better job of routing the power cable. Thanks to thunderbolt, the dock is both display and power so cords are kept to a minimum! After 3 years on a 13" screen, words can't express how happy I am to have the new display, and Apple always makes nice looking stuff.

2020 13" Macbook Pro
Humancentric Dock
27" Studio Display
Orbitkey Nest
Orbitkey Desk Pad
Magic Keyboard and Track Pad (they sent black track pad by mistake, waiting on replacement)

Loving it. How's progress coming along?
Also, I wonder, since a mistake was made with the trackpad delivery, would a black keyboard 'blend' in more?

I use a Bluetooth keyboard so I don’t have the shiny keys I’ve been hearing about, and I keep the paper that came with the MacBook to stop the keys from directly touching the screen.
So you still get shiny keys, but on your non-Apple bluetooth keyboard, right?
I don't really get the point, isn't that the same as buying a car and not driving it, because that might wear out the tires?

Maybe, but, I bet the wireless keyboard is a lot better to use than the keyboard on the laptop.

Now, as I type, I can see just how greasy my keys are so off to go get something to clean them with. BBS....

Paranoid much? You've already spent the money, why not just use it? Clearly, I am missing something here.

Apple sells replacement keys now on their repair store. I’m not worried about it. If they get too bad I could always replace them.

True, but the Bluetooth keyboard wasn’t being used, so it seemed like a win win situation. Maybe I should stop acting like it’s a butterfly keyboard.

The laptop keyboard is actually easier to type with, but for games requiring the keyboard, the Bluetooth keyboard is better.

Added bonus of using a Bluetooth keyboard means I don’t have to clean the keyboard as much.

Yes. It’s really more like buying a new car and immediately changing the new tires to some used tires, which does sound silly to me.

Just added the M2 MBA to my fleet last week, pictured on the desk. MacPro is a 2009 2.66 GHz Quad-Core.

That's a nice desk! I like the idea of being able to put the keyboard and mouse beneath everything else, it makes it look a lot cleaner.

Thanks. It's an old desk, probably from 2004 or so. The keyboard tray does work great (I'm not that tall, so the height is perfect too). I like that it frees up the upper desk for papers/physical files.

Technically we should be calling the MagSafe for the 2022-2023 MBP’s MagSafe 4, considering MagSafe 3 is what launched for iPhone 12/13 & 14 models ;) lol
You're forgetting the MagSafe connector for the Apple Watch (MagSafe #3)! That makes iPhone 12 ++ MagSafe #4, and the new MacBooks MagSafe #5...
