My first Mac Desktop Setup... Still have the stock wallpaper... haha

I work at a University, and got an email for a "back to school" mac sale for staff and students. I'm planning to do an update on my 4 year old gaming/content creation editing rig, so I decided to pick a Mac Mini M2 to use with my Dual PC monitors, while I plan out my next build.
Do you prefer content creation on the gaming rig because of its specs or is there something about Windows that you like to use for this?

I prefer content creation on my Windows PC because of its specs. When it comes to editing for clients, my workflow is so much faster considering I only have a base model M2 Mac mini. If I had a Spec'd up Mac Pro, maybe that would be a different story... but then I would want to put the cost of a spec'd up Mac Pro into a powerful gaming rig, since I like building my PC's, and picking parts/brands I prefer. Nothing against Mac... I like working on both platforms.

Gotcha. I'm in the middle of debating whether I should build my first PC so I'm always curious about what people are doing with their dual setups.

I rearranged my setup... I hated rotating my screen to use the mixing app... and a few other annoying things. Plus the new arrangement gave me an excuse to work on my cable management behind my mixer.

I stumbled on something cool with this new arranged setup. I noticed my trackpad cursor moves into my iPad on the right... and I'm able to use my Magic Keyboard/Trackpad with both my Mac Mini and iPad. I've never paired my keyboard and trackpad to my iPad... so that was a pleasant surprise. :)

For those who noticed my PC rig isn't on my desk anymore... I parted out my PC parts to my kids. My oldest is a partner with Youtube (whatever that means... I don't see big checks)... LOL... and needed a better computer for his content. I'm planning to buy new PC parts for my next build anyway.

  • 14" M1Pro Macbook Pro
  • (added shortly after pic) Plugable Thunderbolt4 Hub for that sweet single cable solution
  • 2x LG 27UN850 4K 27" Display
  • UA Volt1 Interface
  • Aston Origin Mic
  • Yorkville YSM5 Studio Monitors
  • Green Magic Keyboard with TouchID
  • Green Magic Trackpad
  • Logitech Ergo Mouse
  • 6ft Acacia butcherblock Countertop that I finished sitting on an Autonomous standing desk frame
  • Herman Miller Aeron with all the bells and whistles
  • iPhone 4S frame gifted by Grid Studio as part of sponsorship thing few years back
  • Anika the Aardvark plushie (internal mascot for Apples Radar issue tracking system) that was gifted by an Apple employee, holding the card to an Apple 2018 Close Your Rings challenge prize
  • APC 1500VA UPS

So I've added a new monitor to my setup.
New - Apple Studio Display on the left
5 years with the ViewSonic VP-3268 4K on the right.
Mac Studio M1 Max

I think I might need to invest in a calibration device. The ASD is a bit too warm and doesn't appear to have the ability to manually adjust.

Awesome set up - what is the monitor arm? Are both displays running 4K? And could you also open the Mac and use the internal display if you wanted or does that require the Max chip?

Monitor arm is some VIVO tube arm from Amazon, both displays are 4K, and I can use the internal display as well as both externals but I prefer not to for space saving reasons

Here's mine (again). Since last time I've done some cable management, and also replaced all my old LED lights with new HomeKit (Matter) lights from Nanoleaf. This is the 'neon' setting, but when I'm working I have a much more neutral colour scheme going on where lighting is concerned.

No desire to upgrade my Mac mini so far. It's an M2 regular chip with 1 TB SSD and 24 GB RAM and it just doesn't stop!

Is that a Datsun 240z? Doesn't have quite the style of the Triumph GT-6.

Give me a Datsun 240z any day over any Triumph, especially the GT-6. The styling of the latter was certainly avant-garde but rather 'iffy' to own and to drive as were many Triumphs - I had a few, and me a Brit saying this!

Bought a '72 GT-6 in '85 and drove it for years. Now I have a '69 and need to get it running... along with my Saab Sonett. At least my Miata runs! I like me a fun 2-seater!

Unless I'm mistake, that looks like an early Alfa Guilia on your wall. Nice!! I had one of it's big brothers, a GTV Bertone 2000. Should have never sold it!
Yes it is! My next classic car will be an Alfa Giulia Sprint to match my wall art lol
