So, Amazon has a sale going on...

Bought a second ASD to compliment the one I just recently bought. I'll find a use for the old 32" 4k display.

Still have some cable management to do, a new light arrangement to figure out, and some desktop speaker stands to buy, but I'm SO HAPPY with my new Dell U2723QE 27" monitor and my aluminum laptop stand. (Monitor was ~ $150 off on sale!)

One USB-C cable to my laptop and boom - I have a beautiful desktop setup.

Not much has changed except wallpaper (minimal) and various stuff on the desk (also minimal). Don't recall the last time I put my Mac setup on here.

Anyway, the six displays are attached to a 2009 Mac Pro 5,1 (4,1) running Sonoma 14.6.1. The Macs underneath the desk are a PowerMac G5 Quad to the far left (awaiting shipment to someone else), 2006 Mac Mini (left), 2023 M2 MacBook Pro (work issued, on the right), 2015 MacBook Pro (work issued, on the right behind the M2) and a Lenovo Thinkpad (far right, not sure what year).

On the desktop is a 2011 MacBook Air and on the far right my 2003 17" PowerBook G4.

I work from home so the 2009 Mac Pro and the 2023 M2 share a KVM switch. At the time I took the picture, it's a Saturday and so the M2 is off and won't restart until Monday morning. Hence the blank vertical monitors which the M2 also uses, but the Mac Pro does not.

PS. The vertical TV on the left has failing red and green LEDs so has this bluish cast in all the pics I take of it. But it was a Goodwill purchase for $15. That particular cast in the pictures is not present in actuality.

PPS. Oh yeah, next to the Mini is a 2006 17" MBP running Snow Leopard and a 2008 MBP running Sonoma 14.5.

I have an M3 MBP 16" but stupidly do not know how to run my ext. display with MBP in clamshell without opening and closing each time I shut down so it takes up room

Is there an Apple help on this?
Not able to find one so thought not recommended, but seeing you set up reminded me.
I have the arch type stand available so 'how to' please. ;) 🦈

Give me a Datsun 240z any day over any Triumph, especially the GT-6. The styling of the latter was certainly avant-garde but rather 'iffy' to own and to drive as were many Triumphs - I had a few, and me a Brit saying this!
Put the Rover V8 in the Triumph , fix brakes and suspension and THEN blow the Datsun away!

No answer needed - I just turn off the whole desk and leave theMBP on standby. Da Dah!

Onyx, which has been available for a very long time now, has the ability to schedule startups and shutdowns. My work issued M2 uses Onyx to startup at 1am every morning and shutdown at 7pm every evening. It's permanently in clamshell mode and connected to two 30" Cinema Displays and two 24" monitors.

Just download the correct version for your OS. Oh…it's free. They don't charge for it.

I think you need a few more Macs

This is a great thread.. i am at the point my ipad, mac and monitors are all at the end of their useful lives so i get to design a new setup from scratch to fit with how my interests have evolved and i have been going through this thread looking for ideas
i feel the same way, looking at cleaning out my office and getting all new stuff in it....

Re-did my office/music room setup again... since I have my musician friends and band rehearsals at my house more often now. I like to have my work desk clean and managed, but the music equipment added a lot more cables.

Tried my best to have cables managed for...
- bass guitar - 1 channel
- electric guitar - 1 channel
- acoustic guitar - 1 channel
- keyboard L/R stereo - 2 channels
- electric V-drum L/R stereo - 2 channels
- up to 4 vocal mics - 4 channels
- 8 IEM personal mix-bus's (6 stereo and 2 mono)
- 16 channels instrument stems for backing tracks

This is my music room setup when we play music. I have more office space when working in my real job, when I put my bass, electric guitar, keyboard, and bassboard away. :)
