I beg your pardon right off the bat for this rookie question but here goes: Isn't it bad for a MBP battery to be charging all the time? You guys using a closed MBP with another screen got me thinking about this. I've been used to pulling out the charger whenever it reaches 100%. Is it just an old wive's tale that you ought to do that?

It's fine, nowadays it's more about the load cycle, you should still let it run down and recharge once a while though.

Here goes ...

Items:

rMBP 13'' mid-2014
mStand
24'' Samsung Syncmaster T240
Harman Kardon Sound Sticks II (I'd wish they were wireless)
WP Passport 1TB Harddrive
USB-fan
Blue Lounge Sanctuary*
Apple Wireless keyboard
Apple Wireless mouse

*where my iPhone 5S usually is placed but I needed it to take the photo LDO

Actually, I think it is possible to have too many screens fit onto one table so I've got my iPad Mini 2 elsewhere :)

Future upgrades:

- A raw wood desk (there are some fantastic ones ITT)
- This beautiful lamp
- A new and a lot thiner second screen to replace the Samsung monitor
- The wireless Harman Kardon Sound Sticks
- One more charger for my rMBP so I can leave one at home and keep one in my bag
- A better way to charge my iPad (right now I do it through the computer)
- Only one collection of cords under my desk (two at the moment)
- Find a better place for my rMBP charger
- A pair of B&W P5 Wireless

How old was the iMac already when you took the first photo?!

My first computer was the original 2005 Mac Mini. My second, which I am still using was the 2009 Mini, which looks the same from the front. I was using the 15" monitor I got in 2005 until a few months back. Now I have a 21.5" one. I am still using the speakers I got in 2005, but got the small form wired Apple keyboard soon after I got the 2009 Mini.

I did post then and now pictures a few months back. I do like to see the then and now pictures, rather than the "What I have now" ones that are most commonly posted.

The iMac is only a few days old; I just purchased it last Sunday.

Oh the eMac in that picture was nearly a year old. I bought it October 2004 and that picture was taken in September 2005. I loved that machine.

Oh, got my e's and i's mixed up.

Interesting how things that once looked so modern can look so dated when looked at ten years on. The eMac styling looks a bit older to my eye. I didn't often see a Mac where I was at back then.

Macbook Pro 4,1 still my workhorse after 7.5 years. Just dual-booted Yosemite alongside SL... must say I'm fairly impressed how well it runs. Other than that, have a Dell U2412M monitor, Logitech 2.1 stereo, an OWC 2TB external for media, a WD 1TB external for backups, and an Aukey desk lamp.

Any questions about hifi, tv, macs etc just ask...

Here's my daughters homeschool k-12 setup.
I'm not into big Huge office desk setups. I like compact efficient but elegant solutions.

Good to see the pictures of Mac set-ups that look like they are being used rather than just posed to look pretty. I wouldn't be happy to lose desk space to a rodent though.

"Compact elegant solutions" - What a load of tosh that solves nothing, unless you do nothing but use a computer it is far from efficient.

For me the computer is part of my work and leisure, used keep records, create documents, edit photos, listen to on-line radio as I work, search for information, or the source of information used in assignments…. and plagiarised offerings (usually within a minute! There is a lot of it about where I am at. It's what students learn to do at school; a habit we have to disabuse them of) and much more. A decent sized desk is essential.

Mine is a bit small really…… a dedicated small computer desk off to the left might be nice to have, but it would spoil my view out the window.
