<3 my iMac
It's not my ideal setup yet. I plan to eventually get some of those lights like JackArc has to put behind it to light everything up a bit more... and probably some more stuff xD
JackArc, love the lamps! Where did you get them? Thanks in advance.

Dorm 2.0.
Sorry for the terribly low quality picture. Didn't want to break out the DSLR.
Speaker placement still controversial but oh well... Cleaned up the wiring and testing new camera flash... waiting for that new shiny desk..
Different better pics (pre-dismantling)
Clean and pristine:
You still have that thing up there? Put it on the floor!!!
Subs were meant for the floor, even more, corners.
holy crap ghostchild, how can you stand to have that massiveness sitting right in front of your monitor like that? Sweet setup besides that though..but boy that would annoy the crap out me.
I should paste this in my sig lol...Those are the Swan m10 speakers. I have them as well (along with the multi thousand dollar headphone rig in my signature).
I know good sound and you know what, for the price, these cannot be beat.
I already have an ultra-high end headphone rig for when I want to listen critically. When I want to use speakers, I chose the swan m10.
They are $99 and blow away anything by klipsch/logitech/creative/jbl in that price segment. In fact, I prefer these to the $500 paradigm mini monitors.
Technically, it is a subwoofer. There IS an internal crossover, around 100hz. It sounds like a 12db/octave crossover to my ears.
All that those specs mean is that the sub's driver is capable of playing that high; not that it actuall does (it doesn't). This is easily tested by unplugging the speakers and playing test tones at specific frequencies, which I have done.
HOWEVER, the placement that ghostchild has is CORRECT. While the sub doesn't play past 100hz much, anything above 70-80hz is directional, which means the system sounds best when the subwoofer is placed directly in front of the user. The system isn't meant to play loud; it's meant to play accurately. The subwoofer isn't a subwoofer in the traditional sense of a big box that gets thrown in the corner and blows the roof off. Think of it as just reinforcing the lower octaves. If you don't have the subwoofer on the desk, it sounds like crap.
what are you using for your ambient lighting?
That is a really nice room JSpence! I wish mine was that clean... <sigh> maybe this weekend I will get around to cleaning!
lol thanks. My bedroom is my control area in our college apt.
... Now if I could only get my roommates to keep the rest of the apartment clean
hey are those the dell 19inchers? or the 20inchers? which model are they, i might get one to hook up with my mb... does the vertical look seem good/does it work well with mac os x?
