...
Electricity meter made me laugh. ;)

Why?
My power line has some huge variations (210 to 235 volts, from 220 nominal volts) and I need to know if some "side effect" correspond to this variations...
So I've installed one digital voltmeter :)
Fortunately the APC Smart UPS protect and regulate the power to my €€€€MacPro.
;)

Ciao :)

That is by far the most intense setup I've seen (with the no-cables idea). Good on you! Makes it extremely clean! I like!

Thankyou :)
I'm paranoid on cables... :D

Ciao :)

I have the same UPS. Does the USB to serial cable allow you to monitor the UPS? I didn't think APC had Mac compatible software for that.

I love the "monster-esque" looking cables. Where did you purchase them?

To monitor the ups I use the APC Network Management Card (not on photo), via ethernet cable. Anyway OSX recognize the ups via usb without any problem.

What do you mean for "monster-esque looking cable" (see my sign... )?

Ciao :)

Monster Cable is a company that makes very high-end expensive cables for audio and video equipment. The cables you have is probably more to do with the country you're in than anything else. THey just look very professional and high end quality.

Many Monster cables aren't actually all that great for the price. They rely heavily on being advertised & sold in shops where the customer doesn't really know any better & believes they must be better because they're big, shiny & expensive. Usually better can be had for less if you shop around.

Ah, ok... I know Monster Cable. It make very nice products :)
All the power cable that you see on the photos are custom-self-made.
Some parts come from American store (colored cable sleeves), some from European store ("big" Shuko and IEC power plugs) and the rest form local electric store (professional power cables, plastic tubes, wall boxes, etc.)

I don't own anything by Monster Cables nor do I intend to. They're all marketing, imo. I just meant the big and shiny exterior that give it the appeal, but right you are.

I like Monoprice.com myself.

MicroT, good work on the self-made stuff. Way too time consuming for me though.

To the OP of the original setup we're talking about here, I'd just like to say that you have gotten the largest number of replies I've seen for a setup in a really long time, perhaps ever since I joined.

Congratulations. It really is nice. :)

I live near Venice, on "real" earth... So I don't have to use boats, but, fortunately, stable cars on real roads :D
Venice is beautiful, but, for me, not for working... maybe for living, maybe... :)

MicroT, thanks for sharing your setup. Now I have some ideas to tackle my cable management issues. Very innovative! :)
You'r welcome :) I'm pleased to share my ideas :)

BTW, please... My name is Mirco, not Micro :D

Ciao :)

You know, I just don't get the appeal of those setups. They're just kinda clean. I mean, they're okay, but geez! They're not too great!

Agree. As setups they aren't actually that great and some are really mediocre... I liked the one with the light coming from behind the iMac and a neat plant on the right though :)

I find that putting a light source behind my iMac when I work/play is most comfortable.

I like the first setup because of the wall. Also, I feel that I have seen some of these before... definitely crouching donkey...
