Damn. This definitely wasnt a usual case, as like I said I had just gotten home from the road trip, but like the lovely police officer so blatantly stated when I listed the stolen goods "Those guys had a field day."

Insurance cover most of it, but its looking like I'm going to be out $750.

Anyway, guess that means new MacBook of some sort (Either Air, or Pro) and also an awesome delay on my dream setup (MP and 30", was on my way but this is going to put me way behind).

Gotta replace my XTi and iPod also.

Had a picture of er while on the vacation, but obviously that's gone with the camera.

What do you have that second BT keyboard linked to?

Oh, I'm sure it was, I just am amazed anyone would pay $700 for it. :)

Very nice! How are you liking the monitor? I'm probably getting one this weekend, but it's always good to see one in action before I buy.

Absolutely love the monitor. Actually I bought it quite a while ago and used with my PC. But love it even more with the extended desktop!

Did you intend all along not to keep the X41 for long? Or just a deal you couldn't pass up? I've never had a Fujitsu anything, but saw an ad for their tablet notebooks today. They look interesting.

BA005: Nice setup. I didn't realize the Rain Design laptop stands were angled like that. I almost got one for my MBP, but I'm glad I didn't as they don't open very wide. It sure looks good, though. :)

Just for you digitalnicotine I took a couple of photos and uploaded them. Because I dont see why people complain about the mStand. It's clearly the most mint one out there. In the first photo you can see the MacBook open as far as it can go. The second photo shows the position that I usually have it in. I dont see why people need it to go back further than it can!

God, I kind of wish you had posted about twelve hours ago. No monitor for me, I've bought a ****ing Dell on a whim.

*bangs head on Dell*

What sort of light is that behind the iMac?

Thanks! I don't need the screen tilted back further than that hehe. It's in the range for a MBP as well, so I'm glad you posted this. Now I'm off to order one too. You should totally get kickbacks from Rain Design for posting these. They should show similar on their site so people don't mistake the angle as too extreme for certain models. :)

As do I. You know, it really sucks that my mother swears by them.

Anyway, I'll shut up now, but someone around these forums has a sig that calls Dell Wal*Mart, and they're exactly right.

I hate Dell laptops. They are very cheaply made and don't last very long. My neighbors 3 month old Inspiron 1521 feels like its about to fall apart. For PC laptops, I would go with Lenovo or HP. I've had 2 HP's with only minor issues.

However, I do like Dell's desktops. I've had 2 of them and they have never given me one bit of trouble. When I had my Dimension E521 last year, the motherboard died after a failed BIOS update and tech support sent out a guy to replace it for me. Very impressed with that.

Doesn't look like a GDM-FW900 to me... Looks like it's no bigger than 17" too!

What, pray tell, is one of those? EDIT: *drool* *oof* *back breaks*

It's 19", by the way. I'm very attached to it, for some reason.

IBM/Lenovo is the way to go, for sure. Dells tend to sell well on Craigslist, and that's the only reason why I have this... :D

By the way, my first computer was a Dell Dimension 8100, and it sucked so, so, hard. It refused to work properly. Of course, I could be wrong, cause I was 11 or 12 when it broke for the last time, and I was an iDiot back then.

The Sony GDM-FW900 is a 24" widescreen Triniton monitor capable of higher-than-HD resolutions & probably weighs more than you.
(Edit: ah, didn't see your edit...)

I know the feeling, I was very attached to a crappy old 17" Hansol CRT, because my favorite lecturer gave it to me :) But really the only CRTs worth considering are Trinitrons.

8100! omg. no, your being an iDiot didn't break it. Had to replace the Memory, HDD, Motherboard, PSU, Optical drives, Power supply... all in separate incidents. Customer Support was such a pain that we just replaced the non-proprietary stuff out of pocket. oh. what was original after one year was the case (which wouldn't open anymore), video card, floppy (ooo wow) and CPU. Over thirty hours on the phone. gah.

IBM/Lenovo is the only way to go. Or DIY. Or Apple. ;)
