May I ask where you got your desk from? I need something with space.
I bought this desk from a local office supply company about 12 years ago, and I think they went out of business about 2 years ago. It's been a really nice, spacious desk though.

M-M-M-MONSTER FAIL!

Seriously though, what?

Where on Earth did you get this?

Okay, well maybe not the yellowing so much, that was the case for me back when i got my first tibook. It seemed to yellow much faster than my friends'. It does make it hotter though as the guy a couple posts above me attests to, and we'll all agree, heat is the enemy of electronic components. But back to the setups...

Fair, but did the TiBook officially support closed lid mode, I don't recall.

I think most people run closed lid mode without issue, and I'm sure Apple wouldn't sell it as a feature, or even recommend it if their was serious issue with doing so.

I was really tempted to get the Jonas desk, same idea, but the roll out part is actually a table, as opposed to drawers.

Still not sure what to buy though, I might build something ;)

I dont like how thick the top of the Jonas desk is. It is however about 10cm wider than the Mikael desk. Looking at the price difference though pretty much makes the decision for you. :D

I've had the Jonas for about a year now (possibly more actually) - it's great. Very solid and the rolly-out-thing is really useful. Been doing revision on it all day actually.

I like the thickness. It would look spindly if it was thinner IMO...

What do you use the pull-out panel for? Would you mind posting your setup? :D

Haha, I've seen your setup Killyp, it looks amazing (I'm a huge fan of sloping ceiling as well ;)) One of my favourite setups on here:)

In my opinion, the Jonas desk looks great, and like you said, the thickness gives it a definite sturdy look.

If I remember correctly, you can detach the pullout thingy on the JONAS desks. Do that and get one of those drawer elements.

Never seen my desk looking like that - the side-unit and desk I have are both different heights. I'd want to make sure it's the same height as my desk (71 cm with 66 cm legroom height).

The slide-out thing is completely detachable, you don't even have to use it. It'll go on either side too...

Anybody have the MIKAEL and rolling storage cart? just wondering how much space would be left between top of cart and bottom of desk, would be a great place to store my older powerbook to use every once in awhile.
Nevermind: 29 7/8" - 27 1/3" roughly an inch of space between them, not quite enough for a 12" pb.

Actually, that would work really well if it fitted.

Especially if your using a MacBook or some such in closed lid mode, it would make a great way to hide cables.

Edit: Wait, wouldn't that gap be 2 inches? Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't work in inches; I'm British :D

ha very funny about hte closed lid :p but the desk itself is over an inch thick i believe. and the heights i gave were from bottom to top of the desk. see what im saying? it would be roughly two inches from the top of the rolling storage to the top of the desk, not to the underside of the desk, about an inch less. I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting my pb on there and getting it halfway under only to learn it gets stuck...

Ah, I see now!

To be honest, I'd get annoyed with rolling storage, you could just lop the wheels off and Hey Presto, you've got yourself an extra inch! ;)

How thick is the top of your desk? The Jonas one?

From what Killyp said in his post (71cm with 66cm legroom) I'd say it was about 5cm thick:p

You may want to double check this!

Actually triple checked that but on the ikea Homepage it says it is 73cm high. So i was just a little confused. Thanks for reminding though :D

Ah, now that's interesting.

Might just pay to pop down to your local Ikea and have a butchers!
