Getting an entirely new desk setup tonight to take care of some loose ends in the room. Going to get cable organization up to snuff as well. Here's a shot before the change

How do you get your external display to be your primary display? When I try that it don't work. The only thing that works is to mirror both the displays :(

I have a MacBook Pro with a Samsung 22" display.

I have checked under System prefrences but I can't get my external Samsung display to be my primary display.. Hm.

In your Displays preference pane, select Arrangement, and then drag the menu bar from your MacBook display to the external display.

Love the setup, is that the iPhone I spy between the MBP and the Mac Pro, or is it not pictured?

As usual, I love your setup, there is just something about it that is amazing.

Not very many macbooks in this thread.
I posted mine a while back, but I assume that you just posted that to boost your post count as your habit has been today (to get to the PRSI forum), but anyways, here is the link to my setup I posted a while ago in this thread, if you are actually looking for a MacBook setup:

Kudos for the Octane ;) Still haven't found a use for the one O2 I kept, any ideas?

Yeah - my Octane is a lot of fun. It's only a dual 300MHz R12K, but it still wipes the floor with my 1.5GHz G4 in floating point math. :)

I love the O2. Incidentally, there's an O2 sitting in that same room out of view. It's a 200MHz R5000, which makes it a little too slow for browsing. However I use it to provide a CD-ROM drive for network installs on the Octane, and because it can record full frame analog video effortlessly, it's been used to import old 8mm tapes I have from my childhood (I then transfer them over the network to a computer more suitable for processing).

Does yours have the A/V module? If not, they can be had for dirt cheap on eBay. Then you can impress your friends by wrapping live video around a 3D object and spin it around in real time! ;)

Beautiful. Simple, elegant, powerful, and a nice dark color scheme. I wish I could make my room as amazing as some of the setups here, but I just don't have the room (it sucks living in a bedroom right under the roof in a twin; low ceilings and weird room angles).

Also beautiful. Simple, clean, yet it looks real. Very nice.

I second this. I love clean looking setups. I wish I had the space as well, but getting the wife to allocate large areas of our condo for my computer geekery has been hard to do. :)

Yeah i really need something to put the Genelecs on, at the moment I'm using two iPhone boxes :)

The interface is great, would highly recommend it, just remember if you do get it to get the latest drivers from alesis.com, because the ones included in the box don't work with leopard.

What do think of Torq? would you recommend it?

I love Torq. I spin mostly Dance and Trance as well as some Hip Hop and Rap for parties and the such. Torq works really quite well for me as my main focus in DJing is on-the-fly remixing, etc. Torq does a very good job of keeping the loops and effects tempo synched, which was a main selling point for me over the other DJ software systems available. It is very convenient to be able to be playing a track and, by pushing one button, have a 4 beat ready to go, or a 1/16 beat stutter mixed in with the rest of the track. No fiddling with individual tempos of separate modules. I also like the 5 hot cues available. Once I got used to them, almost every single song had 5 cue points set. The other reason I decided to go with Torq was the Xponent. At the time, it was (IMO) the best midi DJ control surface out there (however, the new Numark one that was announced at Summer Namm looks pretty sic). And it (the Xponent) being designed for Torq, you have a physical way to control almost every parameter. I do wish they added some way to control crossfader curve, but so be it. I would recommend something additional with some buttons and knobs to be able to fully make use of Torq, but the Xponent really is great.

If you are mainly focused on scratching and such, I wouldn't really recommend Torq. I know a little bit about scratching, and that is not really what Torq is optimized for. No problem scratching a track in or a little baby scratching to spice up a track, but I don't think it would work well for serious turn-tableism.

What do you use for the lighting behind your ACD? I want to do something similar. :) Nice setup.

My desk is from IKEA (Galant) .. you can also spot a iPhone 3G in the picture. I will post the wallpaper later and a picture of my entire room
when I moved to my new place. (1st of September) The cable management is not so special .. just a big mess under the desk and a good
angle for the picture!

Yeah it's got the A/V module. I picked up 3, but ended up dumping 2 of them (the ones in worse condition) when I moved flat, because I couldn't be bothered transporting them!

Also, are your walls painted or is it a wallpaper? I really love the color
Looks like wallpaper to me, see the ripples in the corner where it's been applied badly?

I can't speak for him, but I have a small brass desk lamp, sitting on the little woofer, behind my iMac.

The metal shade is just visible from my typing position, but sheds no light, so it's not in my eyes.
