old setups

I've posted a similar link before, but I managed to dig out some new pictures this morning. Very sad I have only one tiny image from 2002, and nothing from 1999 or 2000. Before 1999 I think I had taken maybe 3 pictures of my setups from 1993-1999 (why waste film and development costs to photograph a computer setup?).

Anyway, some old pictures:

Got new speakers!!!

Logitech Z Cinemas... :D

Too bad using them with OSX requires a bit of trickery...

Anyhoo, the speakers were too big to fit on my desk with the extra monitor. So for now, I'm forced to push my monitor off to the left, which really kind of defeats its purpose. At least I have my X360 hooked up to it, I guess...

^ Do you use your Macbook anymore?

I find myself using my iMac A LOT more and only using my Macbook when I go to the library.

How stable is your external monitor? How often do you use it?
I think the 20" screen is so big that I couldn't possibly need another display. The only time I use another display is when I hook my iMac to my 40" tv.

Yeah, I still use it quite a bit when I'm in class. I take most my notes on it; and it also comes in handy if I'm going to the library or wanna study in my bed. Also, it's what I'll probably take with me if I head home for a weekend, cause the iMac is a bit unwieldy to take with me except for on long breaks. Nevertheless; since getting my desktop, I do tend to spend most my time on it.

Stable? ... as in not gonna fall? Well, it's pretty secure. I can bump it with quite a bit of force and it doesn't go anywhere. :p

It's only been setup this way for a few hours, so I haven't used it much. An external display was great when I just had the Macbook; but now that I have a 24" iMac, I'm needing the extra screen less and less. It's especially disappointing our desks aren't wide enough for both monitors  I think I'd use it A LOT more if both screens were right in front of me.

mattcube64; How much are those speakers, and how well do they preform?
By the way, can't you just build some kind of wallmount for the sattelites, since they're wireless(?)?

First time sharing, just got a 20" dual monitor set up last night. The curtains are temporary til I can paint the room and put up some decent blinds. The west side of the house gets pretty hot and bright without the curtains!! click on the pics for full size pics.

haha yea, he's real... he's a big ol' english bulldog, about 13 weeks old now. he'll be like a friggin tank when he's grown up :D

My Cousin has one, he's five years old, and was a tank at that age too! You could try to move him and he wont budge. Heck if you trip over him he wont budge. Comes with alot of health problems... Got some handy butt wipes ;)

What DVS program do you use? Traktor Scratch, Serato, etc?

Finalscratch 2... it was the only thing out when I bought it. I've tried serato, but i like the traktor software better.

The speakers retail for $299, but I took advantage of a sale on Buy.com, and coupled with a rebate, managed to snag them for just a hair above 100 bucks

I'm really liking how they perform. My roommate has a Klipsch 4.1 setup that probably runs around the same price. And while his can get a bit louder, it begins distorting at about 3/4 volume. Also, the sub on mine, IMO, is much more clear. It may not shake the whole floor, but it does a darn nice job of shaking the room. ... And when it comes to songs with more highs than lows, there's no comparison; the Logitech's are superior. Songs like Bittersweet Symphony sound incredible. Also; they feature "SRS True Surround," and while faux surround sound is kind of gimmicky, there's no denying movies sound great when running a DTS track.

Anyhoo, they're not wireless, though. So, I had to put them where they are. And it's a pain in the ass trying to get them to work on the OSX side of things. When I hooked them up for the first time, I could at least control the volume. Now that I've installed them on my Vista partition, the only way to control the volume in OSX is to have the speakers maxed in Vista, restart, and then control the volume dials on the software I'm using, such as iTunes. I dunno what's up with that, so I need to figure out a fix...

That sounds nice!
Maybe you need to mess around in the Audip-/MIDI-preference application in Applications>Utilities?
