All I can say is, that is a beautiful Avalon Pre ya got there. Those things have some of the most beautiful tones I've ever heard!

Yea it's definitely made a difference. I use it only for vocal recording.... I started out just using a m-audio MobilePre and a Samson C01 condensor ($69.99). But after a deal with an indie label they got me a bunch of new equipment so now I have the avalon & a Sterling Audio ST66 Condensor.

hey Jon Young what amp, speakers and headphones do you have? and do you have a sub/recommend using one?

The PreAmp is an Avalon 737sp. It's pretty much a standard in the hip hop genre. Headphones, I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros. I think they're right around the $100 range. They're pretty sick for that price. I've heard people say there's too much low end on the Sennheisers but for me it's almost not enough. I'd like to check out the Beats headphones by Dr. Dre. And the sub, I have a 10" KRK K10s. Monitors, Yamaha HS80M. Having better monitoring and just overall better equipment does make a big difference when mixing....(not that I'm an expert) but I can hear a tremendous difference from older recordings to newer ones.

Here's what I've got going on right now. The Mac Pro is a single quad 2.8 connected to a 23" ACD. The iPhone is a white 3G. The MacBook is the 2.4 GHz model purchased just a few hours ago.

Its really nice! I'm looking to buy one for my home office. You don't want to see my current set up. It's a CRT Viewsonic monitor on a foyer table that I pick up in front of my neighbors home ready to be trashed! Its only 16" deep.I'm so cramped on this thing!

I'm a little bit undecided whether to buy a new Unibody MBP or perhaps the new iMac upcoming on 06.01.09 (perhaps).
Hard decision, cause the hack is running really good...

My MBP roams the house. Lately I've been using it exclusively from the couch, and it lives on the side table when not in use. Sorry for the poor picture, didn't realize the camera was set to low quality when I took it.

But here are pics of the office. I need to get some art up on the walls, they're too plain.

The cabinet/shelf of yarn is the GF's. We share the office, but that shelf is all she's put in here thus far.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Heh, its because of you that I waited and waited and finally bought a set of Swans M10s when they were available again.

Say, how did you go about mounting the satellites to the stands? Mine don't have any mounting holes at all. Did you just drill holes yourself?

The stands came with double sided tape.

I don't like the CoolerMaster thing under your MBP, I had the same one and it burned one USB port on my old Dell Inspiron 700m. Worked fine with my other notebooks but... who knows what's gonna happend. Sold it -.-
