Nothing fancy, but I haven't posted an update in awhile. Got a new mouse recently. I had been eyeing the Revolution for a long time, and when it went on a 60% discount I had to get it.

Nice. It seems a lot of us use that mouse. I love it.

I must admit that your set-up is rather nice I must say. Simple, elegant and modern. Makes me rather envious to have a set-up like that. Oh well. At least I have an Apple iMac 24".

I'd be inclined to agree, but all of the hardware is of Apple's new generation products, which look pretty ugly to me. If it was the old Cinema Display and the old MacBook Pro, then I'd say it was a great looking setup but it's spoiled by all of the ridiculous black accents Apple has decided to add.

Good job on keeping it tidy though!

Good think you don't have it then, right?! You don't have to worry about looking at the UGLY setup..

I think it's sharp

did you guys order them from theaudioinsider?

I order my Swans M10s from them as well. My shipping was $11 or so. They shipped the morning after I ordered it, and it arrived FedEx three days later.

They do an awesome job, I'd buy from them again, but everything else they sell is balls expensive.:D

subs arent supposed to be that close dude. i would put it on the floor

I've got my set laid out similarly. I've got my sub slightly off to the right. Besides, its not a true sub anyway, just a glorified, really bassy speaker anyway. If all else, it sounds better with it on the desk actually.

Heres an explanation.... hope it helps.

Those are the Swan m10 speakers.
HOWEVER, the placement that ghostchild has is CORRECT. While the sub doesn't play past 100hz much, anything above 70-80hz is directional, which means the system sounds best when the subwoofer is placed directly in front of the user. The system isn't meant to play loud; it's meant to play accurately. The subwoofer isn't a subwoofer in the traditional sense of a big box that gets thrown in the corner and blows the roof off. Think of it as just reinforcing the lower octaves. If you don't have the subwoofer on the desk, it sounds like crap.

As others have said, it's not technically a sub.

The Swans aren't designed for the muddy boomy bass you get on most cheap desktop speakers (Logitech, the cheap Bose ones etc). Wonderful speakers.

And with them being so damn beautiful, why not show it off on your desk anyways?

EDIT: Dang, Ghostchild beat me to it..

wires

The wires going out the window are mainly Coax cables for my Amateur Radio antennas. Also are a couple ground feeds as well as a control cable for a remote coax switch.

Amateur radio or "ham" radio involves getting licensed by the FCC and getting a call sign. With shortwave radio I can talk all around the world with as little as 5watts of transmit power.

I am sure there has to be a few other hams on the forum.

Here are some pics of my setup/playroom. Please excuse the crappy photos. I'm living proof that having a nice camera does not make you a good photographer.

What you see:

MBP 17"
Dell 24" Ultrasharp, Samsung 22", and Mimo 7" monitors
17" PC laptop (has Blu Ray)
M-Audio Studiophile DX4 monitors
iPod shuffle and nano 4g 16gig
2 Logitech mice
Wacom 6"x11" tablet
Darth Vader PSP
G-tech 500gig FW 800 drive
Astral projector thingy
Various consoles and games (PS3 not pictured)
26" Toshiba HDTV
Logitech THX surround speakers
Logitech DiNovo bluetooth keyboard
Sony E-reader
The MBP is on a Cooler Master Notepal cooler. I wouldn't recommend it. ;)

Mine FWIW

Hi, I'm a mac newbie and wanted to contribute so here's mine.
I only got my mac at the beginning of Dec and my dvi adapter arrived yesterday, so now I have duel monitors - which I have never tried before and is just awesome:D

Nice gear. Is that a weather station? To advise; raise your extra display to same level. To criticize; 1) Don't litter your screen with windoze-looking icons:). 2) I think a complimentary or accompanying wallpaper on the second display would be cooler. Finally; Have fun with your new iMac, Great choice.

Owning a Mac does not mean you have to arrange your icons in a specific way. I don't see what is wrong with having shortcuts to regularly opened applications or folders on the desktop - it's very useful, especially with Hot Corners.

I also don't understand why you'd say something like "windoze-looking icons" as if it's bad. It's just different to how you would do it and it has nothing to do with "windoze".
