Before I picked up my desktop I was in the same boat as Jessica - cart the laptop around, but at home hook it up to a forest of cables and an external monitor.

Tiz a beast. :D Setup works really well for me, might add a second 2209WA but I'm not sure it'll fit on the desk.

At my desk I have a ethernet, USB, FW 400, DVI and power plugged into my PB but it moves around the house a lot too.

Nice setup! I'm looking to buy a Dell Mini 9 or a Compaq Mini 700/1000 netbook for using OS X. Where did you find a guide for installing OS X on the Compaq Mini 700?

Ummm many people use an external monitor with their notebooks while in the office or at home. Frankly, my powerbook was a desktop replacement for 4 years that I carried with me in college. At home it was the octopus of notebooks with speakers, usb/fw hubs, display, etc. So yeah ... he bought an external screen ... that is not uncommon by any stretch of the imagination.

Hence " I hope you take that MacBook out with you often."

The more I see a hacked netbook, the more I want (need ;) ) one

Thanks! I presume the Wifi works out of the box? :) Is it especially for the HP Compaq Mini 700? Because here in Sweden I can only buy a HP Compaq Mini 730eo or 735eo, not the HP Compaq Mini 700..

Mine works no problem installing the Kext files included in that guide. At the moment 10.5.7 is a little more of a challenge, but 10.5.5 works perfectly. As far as I can see all the Mini 700s are pretty much the same, but have a read through myhpmini.com forums for a bit more info.

Woa, this extremely glossy screen of the new Apple Notebooks would make me go crazy everytime I used it. Apple has to offer the matte screen for all models in my opinion.

Please don't start that up again. It's not as bad as photos make it out to be, however yes, Apple should release matte to cater for the group who want it. Ok, back to the setups.

What all do you use the mini for? How's it working out?

I'm really wanting to build an i7 rig and replace my MBP with something smaller. I have a Dell Ultrasharp that's barely been used since I got it at the first of the year because it's just too much of a hassle to use with a laptop. I don't really like doing intensive work on it either since it gets so hot.

A netbook would actually be better for class, but I'm afraid there will be times when I will still need more power in a mobile machine like when I go home. I'd like to replace it with a Unibody Macbook, but I'd probably be lucky to break even with the switch. Having all three would be nice, but I'm not sure where this money's growing.

NICE!!
Mikael desk?
How are you liking the A2's? Plenty of power for 256kbits? I have heard they were amazing for their size. Especially for compressed music.

Wouldn't mind a little brighter snapshot of your setup.:D

The desk is just one I picked up at Officeworks (I live in Aus), at the time all the IKEA desks I looked at were too big for the space I had.

The A2's are absolutely amazing, really great sound quality for their size. I'd recommend them to anyone that can afford them.

It's pretty bad weather here today so can't really get a bright pic, but here's one in daytime at least.

Mainly used for Safari and Adium when I'm in bed. Runs ARD perfectly well though, for controlling the Mac Pro. That and OpenTTD of course, the greatest game eva!

Runs all that perfectly well, the only noticeable 'slowness' is the boot time, takes about a 1:30 to fully boot, but hey, thats not all that bad.

Very clean... but I reckon it looks a bit bare!

Mine:

I genuinely thought that I had the biggest mouse mat available; at least mine is the biggest I've ever seen in the flesh. I have a Razer Goliathus, and it must only be about half the size of that monster! I'm getting one.

Everyone, I believe we've found Paris Hilton's MacRumors profile. :p:D

Very, "pink" but very tasteful and clean.

I have a giant mousepad made by the same company - they're great. I hated using the small mousepad I once had.
