@ PB1300 & MLEMONDS

Thanks guys :D - The case is a standard one from eBay. Didn't see the point in paying 50-75% more for a SPECK CASE when most eBay ones are made from using a mold of the Speck.

Heat wise, no noticeable increase in heat, perhaps a 1-2 degrees difference, lol. Personally, I'd go for a sleek hard case compared to the invisible shield, as the case will protect your UBM from any dings and dents.

Quality wise, its really good IMO. The ONLY thing is that it was a few rough edges. Not on the smooth surface, where the edge of case is. Its hardly noticeable but I'd rather tell u in advance so you know what you're getting. Prob easily smoothed out using light sand paper? :S

Here is the link: LINK

-----

The lighter colour keys is in fact just a silicon keyboard protector. :D

Hope that helps guys :D

The lighting in the loft is very bad, thus the reason why the pictures are bad. I will upload more pictures when the lighting is a whole lot better.

Either that Sky Box is tiny or the Mac Mini and the Monitors are huge!!! Is it like an extender box or something??? Thanks!!

That isn't the Sky Box believe it or not, it is my router. The monitors are 20" but to the right of me is my Dad's side of the room. That has our Sky Box and all of his stuff on it. Want to see photos of my Dad's side?

He uses his side as a home office because he owns a company that requires a lot of paperwork, but he has had a week leave but he still get hassled and has a lot of work on his plate. His side is normally messy!

A few weeks ago my sister moved out, she had her bedroom in the room we're in now (loft) and basically over this past week we've cleared it out, bought and built quite a few desks and moved all of our equipment up here.

We are still sorting things out because some of my sisters stuff is yet to still be moved and the things on the floor are what are going to be installed on my Dads desk. I given him my old Altec Lansing speakers. (2:1 channel).

His office was in the conservatory, mine was in my bedroom. Thank god it isn't now, I was starting to run out of the space at the rate of my setup rapidly increasing in growth.

We have our good ol' trusty stereo system up here too. Two speakers either side of the room, we can have it as loud as we want and the neighbours can't hear, although our Mum feels the vibrations in the kitchen. We knocked her pan of eggs off the stove, on to the floor by the amount of vibrations yesterday. Damn, if only we caught her face on picture.

You can only just see the Sky Box under the amount of paperwork my Dad has on his desk.

For a 14 year old and 49 year old, we're not doing too badly!

Wow nice loft!

I wish my dad let me buy tech things, instead he's like "Are you working fine with what you have now?" me: "Uhhh, yes, but it's very slow" (When in reality it isn't, but I just said that so I can get new stuff!)
then he's like: "Okay then. If you're fine with what you have now, we're not getting you anything"

Then, if I lie to him and say "No, it doesn't do half the stuff I do on my computer", my dad calls my brother and is like "He wants a new computer", then I get yelled at by both my parents, and my brother.

:/

Thank you.

I have to say, my Dad says the exact same thing but I then reply "I thought the money I am spending is mine, not yours.." he then mumbles to himself and then he just hopes that I say no more on the matter. I then go and buy what I want. :)

He doesn't care what I buy as long I am not going overly stupid with the price or just impulse buying.

As for your brother, that's a shame! The only solution I could give you is kill him, but that isn't the easy way out nor the cleverest. All I can say is, it is your money and your responsible with what you do with your money.

You must admit lofts/attics are the best place for setups! They're just so cosy!

I know right? This is one of those "holy grail" setups. I have been scouring these threads looking for a good example for my setup and this is definitely one of them.

I'd say that this is THE 'Holy Grail' of setups. Mine when i move to new house is going to look like thisish, although more work friendly. I.E. a few more wires because of printer and TV's

I have over $3000. I have enough to buy me a Mac Pro that can last 5-10 years.

Somewhere during the conversation there comes a time where I'm like "But I thought it's my money" him: "Yes it is your money, if you spend it wisely, and buying computers isn't wisely."

My dad= Best arguer in life. I bet if he was put up against Socrates, he'd win.

MBP specs? If it is above 2.33GHz I would keep the MBP

It is a 2.0Ghz Core Duo, basically the first MBP that came out. Plus this is happening. Coupled with a fan running off centre and speakers that are broken I believe it is time to upgrade.

Oh noez you hurt my feelings! Honestly why does it matter to you what I posted? Does it affect you in ANY way? Seriously don't YOU have anything better to do? If my post bothered you, ignore it. Did you feel like a bigger better person after typing all that? I hope you did.

Not that I have to explain anything to you, I could careless what he does or doesn't have, if you're going to make extradionary claims like he has over and over you should be ready to back them up when people call for you to.

Anyhow, I don't want to clutter this thread up with anymore useless posts, so if you'd like to continue, feel free to PM me. Thanks.

My dad is the opposite, he will offer to chip in even though I don't want him too. But I love him and he always helps me out on stuff or he wont even accept my money.

This is mine. 20" iMac (Core 2 Duo, 2.0 Ghz, 4GB of ram) with screen spanning on to the HP monitor on the left (also 20"). To the right of the iMac is 15" MacBook Pro (2.4 Ghz, 4GB of ram). I do most of my work on the iMac and I rock the Pro to run some Windows-only software for one of my clients (through Fusion). Right now I've got EyeTV running and I'm watching some over-the-air HDTV. Pure gold.

No room on my desk for my MacBook Air (I have a bit of an addiction, don't ask).

Do you know what model # of HP that monitor is? Reminds me of the new Apple monitors. Thanks.

Setup: 17" Unibody MacBook Pro + Samsung P2370

I have recently purchased the new Samsung P2370 23" monitor and I can honestly say, it is absolutely stunning!
I was thinking of buying the new Apple Cinema Display but after comparing both, the image quality was pretty much the same and it cost me $500 less than the Cinema Display plus it comes with a Matte Screen.

Here are some pictures of my new setup.

IMG_1358.jpg

This screen is extremely thin and lightweight.

IMG_1368.jpg

Beautiful glass-like design.

IMG_1376.jpg

Mirroring display on the 17" MacBook Pro and the Samsung P2370

IMG_1379.jpg

The difference between the Matte and Glossy displays (The samsung has a much better picture quality even though it might not look like in pictures).

IMG_1390.jpg

All in all I am extremely happy with this monitor. It only cost me $279. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. 250 cd/m2 brightness. Contrast ratio of 50,000/ 1,000 and the response time of 2 ms. Viewing angle is 170 degrees and it weighs 9 pounds.
