Don't get the Mamba unless you:

a) Play twitch shooters.
b) Do graphics design without a tablet.
c) Have money pouring out the ***hole.

If you want a high-quality, zero-lag wireless mouse, the G7 or the Sidewinder is a good bet and a fair bit cheaper. The G7 only has three programmable buttons, mind you (and that's including the sideways scroll, so just one in reality).

Personally I love my G7, but I hate having to swap batteries every day or two, so I think I might nab a Mamba soon.

I have gone through almost all of the Razer mice, so I kinda know what I'm getting into, and I love it. I have never been too keen on Logitech mice for some reason, and I have only bought their mice (G5 and VX Revolution) because I got them for way cheaper than retail. The G5 I pretty much hated, so I would probably feel the same about the G7. Maybe I'll just wait until my 30 days are almost up with this mouse, and then return it and order a Mamba, I'll have money to spend by then :D

Dude, install SteerMouse or something, the only buttons not programmable on the G7 are the little DPI buttons in the middle. You can change everything else... The Mamba beats out the G7 by one button, it has 8 that you can program vs the G7's 7...the Sidewinder X8, VX and MX's about 10 or 12.

I just moved from the G7->Mamba... originally I was not going to because of the price, but I figured I'd give it a try (Amazon has a 30-day return policy and I had a gift card)...once I started using it, I haven't tried anything else yet.

I tried the Sidewinder, I was getting constant hand cramps...if it fits your hand, the Sidewinder is great...it didn't work for me. I've got a palm grip and I just couldn't get my ring finger/pinky situated comfortably with it. To get more comfortable I'd have to sit my hand "back" a little from the end, which made using the up/down thumb buttons out of reach without regripping the mouse.

I was planning on trying the Logitechs (MX1100 and Revo) as well, but I got stuck on the Mamba because it was so nice. I do have to say, I did and still do really like my G7, I had it for years. (hence you can see I have the "older" skin on mine). I just got tired of swapping batteries so often but still wanted the DPI. My DPI "sweetspot" preference is about 1600DPI, which is why the MX1100 would probably work for me too. I have to stay though, the 1000Hz polling cycle makes the Mamba the smoothest mouse I've ever used. I can say so far it is the best mouse I've used, which is probably a reason it's one of the most expensive. :)

Of course we've now hijacked the gallery thread here...if you want to keep chatting about it, lets move over to the Peripherals forum.

I just upgraded my mom to a Mac Mini and took possession of her old iMac G4 complete setup (speakers included) for my collection. It's now on the shelf next to my others Macs. :)

This is my "setup" as the PowerBook is my desktop replacement, I rarely take it from that position. The iBook travels around, so the iBook isn't usually there.

320 watt Sony stereo provides enhanced audio pleasure compared to PowerBook's built in speakers. Furthermore, that thing I sit on was once a rolling office chair. It is now a rolling office stool, as I leaned back one too many times and the back snapped off.

That thing on the floor isn't a PC. It's the stereo console thing.

@ slicecom & Perrumpo

It is a really great, however it's about to be replaced with (see my sig) a MBP 15-inch on an mStand.

As good as the iMac is, it's just too slow for what I need. :( However, unlike the many PC's I owned - the iMac G4 is got to be about 6 years old and still working flawlessly, even with Mac OS 10.5 ;)

Really loving this, although I'm sad to let go full-time use of my iMac :)

What's been your realistic use battery time on that?

Out of the box I got 3 1/2 hours of usage with iChat, Safari, Mail, full-brightness; I think it was at about 3/4ths the way charged. I'm going to calibrate the battery tomorrow and see how much juice this will hold. So far it's been outstanding.

That's actually an HP mouse that I lifted from my grandfather's dead HP desktop when he got a Mac mini. I do have a Logitech mouse though, but the HP mouse was bigger and I have big hands so it's more comfortable.

Yeah, I sometimes run Ubuntu on PCs and I have so many stickers haha. I wish I had that many Apple stickers.
