Are those air purifiers you have on the floor?

Just dual fans. I took that pic an hour after I finished painting and set the desk up, so I needed to move some air around.

What make is your desk, I like how your dual 24" acd's sit on the stand at the back, were did you buy that desk?

Thanks

PM sent. It's IKEA's Galant desk. I used the "rounded" extension with some "stand" pieces to prop up the two 24" ACDs.

Alright. I have to chime in now.

My NAS. QNAP TS-639PRO 6X 1.5TB drives in RAID 6.
Apple Time Capsule 500GB (*got the NAS for everything else)
Hope you enjoy my setup and any comments are appreciated :)

Hey -
I've been looking at getting a Qnap NAS for quite some time now. How do you like yours? I am debating between the 509 and 639 (yours). Apparently the 509 has a better processor, and you can upgrade the onboard ram to 4 GB versus 2GB for the 639.
How's the performance? Do you stream any HD movies (say .mkv) off it?

I am jealous - I want a QNAP! :)

It depends on how much storage you need. If you can stand with 5 bays, get the 509, it does have CPU and RAM upgrading abilities to it. If you need more storage, and don't have the money for the 809 then I would say go for the 639.

Seriously, if you have the extra cash, go for the 809, it's got a faster processor and more RAM.

Movie and audio streaming works fine in Windows, has some issues in OSX, so if you want to stream, I would recommend that you use a local drive for video and audio files. For storage though and backup it's a great unit.

Do you transport your notebook to and from work?

And if so, how do you find the portability of the 17"? Many people say not to get the 17" for toting around, but I think they might just be weaklings :)

Yeah, I bring it to and from work every day, along with my Dell E6500 laptop. It doesn't bother me, because I don't really walk very far from my room to my car.

But when I bring it on Vacation, 17" doesn't bother me at all, I wear the STM 17" Rogue Backpack because I can carry both laptops if I need to.

My 15" MBP

Here is my set up. The first photo is from afar, as you can tell, I am burried in text books. The second is just a bit closer.

I love this setup because I can unhook everything and be out the door in seconds. While I am at home, I hook up my; BenQ 20" widescreen external LCD, Logitech 2.1 sound system, WD MyBook external HDD, and my trusty bluetooth Logitech notebook mouse.

Pretty sweet. But don't you get tired of standing when using your computer? I would suggest buying a chair

Heh. I moved it to de-clutter the photo. Nothing special, just a wheelie / recliner / fabric office chair.

I'm getting a second one tomorrow. Rescuing a 2 year old black lab and naming him Luxo, can't wait to see what the house is like with 2 labs!

There will be dog hair everywhere, if you think it's bad now just wait. Our wood floors have to be swept at least once a day usually twice depending on how often they're inside. They're great dogs though.

Is that Jameson on your top shelf??? Yours wins just for that.

.

Nothing some grooming can't fix. I started brushing my current lab with a furminator a few weeks ago lightly once a week (so I don't damage his coat) and the shedding has gone down drastically. The Dyson upright and handheld vacuums I have help too...But true, that's why my desktop is on my DESK-TOP so I don't suck in all the stray lab hair.
