Really nice setup there man. I like your monitor so i looked it up its not that expencive ( thinking of buying one for my pb G4 ). Are you happy with it ? does it work good ??

Yeah, I am very happy with it. It works perfectly and the resolution is excellent for it. Of course, you will need to have your PB plugged in to the power when you use it.

grumpy. But you're kinda right.

Well how do you say that without sounding grumpy? Anyways..no I´m actually not grumpy but it does get rather annoying when you see the same setup like 5 times on one page. Right? :rolleyes:

The questions only help people to clarify whats going on in the pictures. They are just as important to the thread. One thing I'd like to see, more people snipping out the pictures when asking questions. Banning questions in thread altogether is certianly out of the question IMHO.

My history

* started with a Power Macintosh 5200 LC (± 1995)
* switched to a G4 350 Mhz (± 1999)
* Got serious with a G4 2*1,25 Ghz (± 2003)
* Added a Powerbook G4 1,33 Ghz
* Got really serious this year with a G5 Quad 4*2,5 Ghz + 4Gb RAM
+ 2 20" Apple cinema displays + Isight
* Ipod photo 60 gb

I sold the first 3, powerbook still running great...

So a brief update:

Dumped my MBP about 5 months ago and decided to wait for the C2D revision as mine started having issues. In the meantime i reverted to my trusty PowerBook.

My Dell display also arrived today and i can't help but adore it. Would i prefer Apple aesthetics...yes but this has more ports and function and especially height adjustability which is an absolute must for me and its a whopping £170+ cheaper. Also on the plus side it matches my iPod & PSP. Anyway here goes:

You know, you don't have to leave the PowerBook slightly ajar inorder to use the external monitor. You can close the computer completely and it will work just as well and won't harm anything. Once it closes, just tap a button on the keyboard or the mouse and it will come back on.

lol. I know but i saw a picture on flickr recently, the Tibook's keyboard keys were melting and imprinting on the screen. I know chances of this happening are very slim but what can i say, the picture gave me the creeps.

So i leave the PB slightly ajar so there is some airflow as i regualarly push it to the limit.

I think you need to re-read my post.

Hey lowfi I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of speakers those are? I'm trying to find speakers for a descent price and have descent power that would match my powerbook. :eek:

Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of funny that you're asking someone named lowfi for advice on speakers? No... it's probably just me.

Those are Altec Lansing FX6021's. They sound great and look fantastic but are kind of pricey. I got the HK sound sticks which look pretty good also and are significantly less expensive.

But don't sound nearly as nice, or have near the sound quality, but def not the worst. The Altecs are def. the way to go!
