My setup:

DSC00637_small.jpg

MacBook Pro on the left
Athlon XP3200+ running Gentoo driving the dual 2001FP dell screens
Old Inspiron 8200 running Ubuntu on the right, primarily for messenger apps and mldonkey
Under the desk is the athlon, my mini ITX web server and a Buffalo 1TB Terastation.

On my desk:
A couple of network hubs
HP 4700 PDA
iPod Nano
Sony Ericsson w810i phone
Logitech Z2300 speakers
Logitech MX1000 mouse
Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard
iPod 20GB
Sony PSP
Walkie talkie so my wife can ask me stuff from the house :)

Oh, and my chair is about 15-20 years old and I am always saying I will replace it but have never found one as comfortable to do so.

Nice Setup. Who is the maker of that corner desk? Looks spacious and I have been looking around for something simple like that. The model and where it can be found online or retail store would be appreciated. Thanks.

It was from Ikea a few years ago, closest they have now is the Galant one. I spent ages trying to find the right desk as I like to have a fair bit of room on the desk (especially as at the time I had 2 19" CRT screens) and also the leg configuration on it meant my chair area is nice and clear from obstruction.

That's a cool way to store your bass. I've been looking for one of those hanger thingys for my guitar. Where'd you get it?

Thanks for the info. I went to the IKEA site to check out the Galant series and was wondering if you had a desk with T-LEG or A-LEG? I know yours is probably not the Galant, but I imagine there was a choice for your desk of leg styles. Thanks again.

Neither - when I bought the table I was able to get straight legs for it. Closer to the A legs than the T legs I guess.

Why? That MacBook isn't even a year old?

Its not as if its a slouch either, (//Black MacBook 2.0 GHz, 2GB RAM, 100GB HD)

Foggy whats the spec of the Athlon XP3200+ machine, assuming thats it with the LED thing at the top with the 3 long vertical slots... ah its must be? and how long have you had it? :)

Seems a bit strange. I very briefly thought about replacing my Macbook with a C2D MBP, but then realised I'd be better off just putting the extra £££ that that would cost towards an almighty Mac Pro at some point down the line.

The only reason I can think of going from MB to C2D MBP is if you really need the extra screen space, or are a gamer of some sort.

Quite old now - cant even think when I bought it but havent gotten round to updating it because it now just runs Gentoo and all I do on it is multiple aterm sessions, firefox, thunderbird and amarok. Iirc the specs are 1gb ram, 3200XP+ processor, nvidia 2 motherboard, geforce 256mb AGP graphics card (buggered if I can remember the model off the top of my head) and approx 1TB spread over a couple of HDD's of various sizes. Not really much of a machine these days and hopefully sometime after leopard it will be replaced with a Mac Pro. Best thing about it is the case is quiet groovy :)

Edit: When the Mac Pro arrives it will become a development server and my mini ITX will become just another file server.

I don't understand it either. Of course if you had a Powerbook or something of the sort that you wanted to upgrade then I totally understand the C2D but why on earth would you want to upgrade on a perfectly good Blackbook?

viccles you have a lot of iPods!

heh. :)

anyways, back to the topic: I kind of understand it. I'm half tempted to sell mine. eBay pays ridiculous amounts, and I'm fairly sure for my blackbook I could sell it and buy the low end 15" MBP straight out. Worth it? Probably not. But these forums make me a bleeding edge type - I can't stand to be out-dated.. :p

Now, now. Let me explain my friends: I am going into the marketing/advertising field by starting an internship very soon. I need a bigger screen and a matte one at that. My good friend also needed a computer, so this worked out for both of us.

You wont be comping your stuff for color correct with a laptop for long. Unless its shoe string stuff. Bigger is nice though. Unless your on the train a lot. :)

Now saving for a Mac Pro or MacBook C2D!

Nice. How do you like the large Wacom tablet? I'm on the fence, some of my coworkers say going over 6x8 is a waste... most had a larger one and went back. I feel cramped with the old 4x5 I have now.

What type of work do you do?

Is that a video on your 30"? Looks like the Victoria Secrets Campaign?

Sorry every1 but that colour of wood is VERY warm indeed. It could be -20 below and I can wake up with the window frozen open and be right in the mood to draw! And I cannot even draw STICK MEN right ;) :D Very  desktop mate.

btw, what size is your Wacom tablet?

The Wacom tablet is a A4

The A4 looks wider than it does in brochures, it looks more like the A5 wide. I've got the A5 wide and that is a perfect fit. It's big, but not too big.

Nice system, diotav

Well, I got one of the Speck SeeThru for MBP cases...
