well, my new macless setup (although the mac's for sale!):

the square thing on top of the tower is an old fm antenna from a stereo--it improves wifi reception (cord goes down and wraps around wifi antenna) the ethernet cables on the floor go to the ps2 and the xbox, but they're currently not connected.

I dont know if anyone else noticed this but I love it how people's set ups are so messy until they get a mac then its all clean.
mine was even messier than that when my mac was there  because an emac takes up a lot more desk space than a 17" tft (the other table with the crt wasn't there before)

I suppose if all I had was Mac.s it might be better, but currently I have a pc and a PowerBook and the setup is still quite messy, not a surprise considering the pc is still there

The PowerBook doesn't add that much, imagine that ;)

Are PowerMates worth it? I thought about getting one, but I wasn't sure... maybe you can convince me. :)

Definitely worth it, in my opinion. Very convenient to use... The best volume knob ever, you won't understand untill you try it. This is one of those things that you can be without but when u'll get it you won't know how u did without it.

whoa major brian fart

can't you use it as a video frame by frame tool in FCP?

it does multiple things i believe:confused:

edit: from their web site

Edit movies just like the pros with PowerMate functioning as your very own Jog/Shuttle wheel. Spin PowerMate to scroll through footage and push the integrated button to cut out unwanted pieces. Use it in audio production to jump from track to track, adjusting volume levels as you go. PowerMate makes editing anything from home movies to your next demo a breeze. It even comes preset to work with iMovie, FinalCut Pro and GarageBand right out of the box!

We have 28 G5's w/ 20" ACDs in Atlanta. :)

The GA Tech library has a media lab in the library with 5-6 G5s with dual 20" screens on each one, plus a stack of AV equipment.

I'm not a student there, but if you show them a student ID from any university they will let you in as long as its not during finals or anything.

How much do they run? (price wise) and what is the interface connection? Seems like a neat little gizmo, but hard to justify to much $$$ considering its rather limited ability base.

Thanks, they seem like a neat little thing. If nothing else, they add a little zest to the desktop and actually serve a purpose, unlike the other zest pieces I have all over the place
