I'm your guy's age (well, 15) & have a MacBook Pro, iMac & eMac. Seems like we have more computers than some people here and they're like....20 years older than us! haha.

that's good and all, but be careful what you say in this thread.....as i'm sure you are aware, the "everyone 18 and under post your setups" thread is full of trolls and bitter people because jealousy is abundant there. this is currently a really nice thread and everyone is friendly, and there are people out there (naming no names) who will come back at you with much trollage and unpleasantness for that sort of thing. it's a real shame, but it can happen:(

anyway, i am liking the setup there zap2......what is the size and model of that external screen?

You live with your parents, right? Start paying rent, paying for food, car payments, electrical bill, phone bill, internet, so forth and so on and we'll see how many computers you can afford.

Finally toothpaste, thankyou. All these kids are 14 with like 838538 computers. It's rediculous. Try barely affording one and when you get a brand new one.. it still has problems but you have to live with it because mommy isn't paying for a new one this time.

My trusty set-up. I'm on the look out for an external LCD to accompany the PowerBook, but for now it is decent enough to edit video on!

The Harmon Kardon Soundsticks are a popular 2.1 speaker it seems, i import my CD's into iTunes at 320 Kbps and the clarity is incredible!

The face on my desktop is that of the genius pioneer of I.D.M - Aphex Twin, or Richard D. James.

Great thread.

Thank you!

Unfortunately it's not HD, it's the Sony PD-170 DVCAM. It's a superb camera, and it's enough for me as the nature of my work doesn't always require the bleeding edge.

The small Mini DV camera, also by Sony, still holds really well! It has a great Carl Zeiss lens.

I also have a Super 8mm Sankyo camera which isn't shown.

Nice and clean!

Your iCurve is upside down.

If you switch it around, you won't see the base. Much cleaner!

Rich.

It is?! I didn't even realise, haha.

Easy mistake, it's quite an organic kinda shape.

You might notice in my set-up, a few posts above yours, i have an iCurve.

But you can hardly see it, just thought you might prefer it that way!

Rich.

It's a long list

1. Apple ][+ (16k, cassette's and all.)
2. Sinclair ZX80 (My parents were threatening to take away my Apple. So I had to purchase this on the sly. It was affordable to someone in high school. It's probably still at my Dad's house in a drawer somewhere.)
3. Apple ///
4. Apple //e
5. Mac 128
6. Mac 512ke
7. Mac Plus
8. Mac II
9. Mac Classic (I know this is still at my father's house.)
10. Quadra 700
11. Quadra 950
12. Quadra 840AV
13. Power Mac 7100
14. Power Mac 8100
15. WGS 6150
16. WGS 9150
17. Power Mac 7200
18. Power Mac 7500
19. Performa 6400
20. PowerComputing 210e
21. Power Mac 9600
22. Power Mac G4
23. Power Mac G5 (just sold it)
24. MacBookPro
25. ??? (I have to replace the G5...)

I owned my own typesetting shop from #7 - #20. I would pick up older Mac's, add some memory, HD, etc. and use them for DTP stations, so I may have missed some. I was always upgrading my personal workstation and passing them down the line. Those were the days of SCSI. You'd just attach the drive in an external case, copy all the data, then sit back and enjoy the speed increase. I went through many systems that way. Then when the company went away, I took the PowerComputing machine.

Notes: This list also doesn't include the many PC compatibles that have passed through my hands. What's great, is that up until about six months ago, my computer I used at my work was a 7600/132. It just had keeping up with some of the newer software, so I had to retire it. Old Mac's are still very useful.

I'm not dissing anyone.

(& that isn't a very good comparison, because my dad is paying for all you are mentioning, plus more & stil have extra money for computers, k thanks.)

Yes, your father is paying for all that, not you. You, however, are a lucky kid, because of the fact that you're 15 and pay for none of those things you own. Your father should be the one talking about all the computers he bought and owns, not you.

It's just annoying how a kid like you brags about his stuff and somehow compares it to others based on his age.

Ah you crazy kids...

Comparison? I was telling you about real world issues, not a spoiled kid getting things from his daddy. Your allowance, the food you eat, the clothes you wear. If you had to pay for all that you wouldn't have anything more than some cheap dell to use.

Am I the only one the honestly HATES when this always comes up when someone younger posts a setup that is better then yours?? (Im not talking specifically to anyone Im just saying) You guys get so jealous, it's not the kids fault that he was parents that are willing to pay for the stuff. Just because your parents made you pay for things doesn't mean that ALL parents have to.

What the hell are you talking about? I never said I was jealous nor any of us did. The fact that he needs 5 thousand computers to survive or that daddy can buy them is not my problem. See, you should focus your anger on those kids who post their setups and say how great they are instead of us older people (and I use that term loosely for those young mature audiences) who for the most tend to be helpful in regards to letting them know how this can be seen as snobbish or even in bad taste to others. You musn't jump to conclusions that we're all jealous and want their systems so badly, because it really doesn't matter what they own or what any of us owns, it's just a forum where people show their stuff..kinda like a car show...

This brings up the issue of what can be seen as snobbish or can be taken in bad taste. See, if you worked hard all your life and owned your first house by age of 35, you'd be proud. But wait, some kid says he owns 12 of them by age of 16, how can this not be seen as being snobbish or in bad taste? If you got more stuff than all of us, fine, good for you, just show it and try not to brag about it cause honestly, not all of us are that lucky and not all of us respond well to someone showing off and trying to gain some taste of being superior due to the amount of things they have acquired--and yes, people can end up doing this whether it is on purpose or not.

If your parents can pay for your stuff, great, leeching is always fun. But I personally like working for my stuff...gives that real taste of..."this is MINE"...know what I mean?

After all...anything for the kids...
