I'm liking the looks of the RIZR. Any signs of it coming to the US and Verizon?

I bet it's coming to the US, but probably not Verizon (at least for now) because I haven't heard of a CDMA version.....yet.

It's replacing my craptastic Samsung sch-A670.

I've had mine for over a year. It's been okay, but symptoms of it being thrown in my waste bin include poor battery life, random reboot, delay in call answer, loose hinge, infertility, and anal leakage.

Just out of curiousity, did yours snap in half? My brother's and his girlfriend's did, and I think mine will pretty soon, too.

Surprised not to see any SLVRs in this thread.

Great phone, love it! More balanced look than the RAZR.

Yep. I dropped it. It wasn't a bad drop, but when I picked it up, one of the hinges (where the service light is) was broken, so it's really loose. While you're talking, if you move your head in a certain way, it will flip shut.

Look at the first post on this page. :D

oopsies....I have my setting so that I have more posts per page, so it wound up on the previous page, and maybe I'm a total idiot and mispelled SLVR when I searched...that seems to be the case. Doh! :p

Huh? Who pissed in your cornflakes?

Sorry about that, it just bugs me a little when people that post have absolutely nothing (but spam, flame posts, or trolling posts) to contribute to a thread. But, you are about 8 posts away from an avatar, so I completely understand. Didn't mean to go off on you in particular. My bad.

_________

On a separate note, have you guys seen the new BB 8800 that is supposedly coming out, looks very nice. It looks much thinner than my 8700. Anyone know anything else about it?

Alright but thats not why I posted and I really dont see why that is a flame/troll post? We pretty much just now got the blackberrys here in Sweden and I was merely making an observation on how popular they are.

Also...the avatar thing...couldnt care less. I came back from 2 weeks off and at work Im in front of the computer all day long so MR gets alot of my time..

Oh and yes: the 8800 looks sweet.

LG VI-125. Bought it new June 2005. Now, it's all scratched up, battery life is 20 minutes, and if the battery doesn't get it, random shutdowns and random power-ons do.:(

cell phones are horrible, they are unnecesary technology that gets in the way of everything. Their overpriced, cost fortunes for fees and monthly charges. People are constantly full of disrespect babbling away on the blasted machines. Heck I had one and I never used the damn thing 1 time. The world went on before cellphones, people actually had to have patience and the will to walk to a pay phone or home phone to make a call. All I'm saying is this, for you to join me in the truth, discard your cell phone and remove them from your lifestyle. They are not needed and area total waste of resorces and time in our nation today. FIGHT THE POWER, TOSS THE DAMN PHONE!!!

why don't you use that energy to fight poverty. every three seconds one person dies, from a poverty related death. how many seconds did it to you to write that post? cell phones should be the least of your worries. i can see being passionate about something that matters, but cell phones... please. and on a technology lover's thread no less. sad.

@allexsimmons, I'm waiting till spring next year for the Nokia N95. Until then I'm going for the BOND K800 (hoping its in K790 trim for EDGE).

@crdean1;

> The 8700c although the case colour scheme is not my liking I prefer the 8700g from Tmobile its the same device; completely awesome mobile device.

@iMacZealot; I used to work for DDC/Tier2 group (outsourced) for Tmobile here in Toronto 2 yrs ago; AVOID the SK3 at ALL costs. Your better off going for the 8700g There's a LOT more you can do on it than the SK3; if you want a small device with MP3's GO FOR the BB PEARL 8100 > makes the SK3 useless. Trust me. btw, thanks for the wirelessimports link :D

@steve_hill4; goto www.esato.com the worlds LARGEST SE fan site. You'd be AMAZED at the night photos, and the objects in motion photos that the K800 can take especially flowing water.

> Feature's:
- Built in Blog for Flikr.
- Best PIC to take 9 rapid photos 4 before you fully press the photo button all the way down, and 4 after = you pic the best or save all (cant do all at once though).
- Red Eye Reduction
- Timeline view by year/month for photos already saved.(memory card/phone).
- A2DP support for streaming MP3's over a compatible BT v2.0 Stereo Headset (ooh check out SE's best design of any on the market).
- BT v2.0+EDR best for streaming 3G data speeds using this as a modem for your Apple PowerBook/MacBook/MacBook Pro) :D

I also have an K790a/K800, actually my girlfriend is using it. Its Camera is better than the n73, but I love the calender and smartphone functions of the n73.

What's so wrong the the Sidekick? It has the camera, EDGE, MP3 player, all the stuff the pearl has, what's wrong with it?

With all the hype surrounding it, the SK3 seems like it would've been "new" 1-2 years ago. It has not made any significant improvements since the SK2. It's just a popular device among the high school crowd, imo.

It has made many improvements over the SK2:
  • EDGE (compared to the II's GPRS)
  • A 1.3 MP camera (compared to VGA
  • Lighter
  • smaller
  • better design (in my opinion)
  • MP3 Player
  • space for add'l battery
  • memory card slot
  • Quadruple memory
  • Ringer Profiles
  • Bluetooth
  • Flight Mode

And yes, I am a high school kid, and not only do I look cooler with one, but I like the keyboard of the SK over the SureType on the pearl. Although I think my dad's going to get the Pearl when we switch because it's a good phone for him (an 'adult' phone) and I hope he'll approve of my two phone idea as we're going to China, which is all 900 MHz, and the SK3 is missing that.

Yes, those are significant improvements, but nothing that hasn't already been in phones since last year.

I don't understand your point. Right now, pretty much every smartphone that T-Mobile sells have the same capabilites as one another. So, for the time being, there's no difference, although when they roll out UMTS next year, then yes, there will be a difference. (oh and I'm amped for the SK4 with UMTS)

That's what I'm saying. For something as widely popular as the Sidekick, I'd expect better features. That phone was JUST released this year. I was expecting way more from its initial launch.

But what more could they have put into it? UMTS is not out on T yet, and until then, there's not much else you can put onto a T-Smartphone.

But ... OOOOhhhh hang on there bucko! (lol, I'm kidding, I'm not that old. I always wanted to post that though.)

- There is where you're wrong. Any basic phone based on GSM standard should follow them, such as the ability to save your phonebook (all entries) to the SIM card. SK3 like the SK2/1 before it CANNOT. This is what the Danger Desktop is for.
- A smartphone SHOULD have an OS that is extensible beyond its core package. Run better PIM management, file structure browser's, Ability to install applications. SK3 is limited to a small choice because developers must get approval to have an approved application by Danger, for them to market it to Tmobile to make it available to you. This is not extensible beyond its core capabilities.

OTHER REASONS:
- 10 different email accounts, 7 more than the SK3 can.
- The ability to send photos, recorded audio captured by the device to send via email.
- The ability to either PW Protect that memory card & also to Encrypt that memory card with 3DES. Ain't nobody gonna find those vids I made by the pool. (I wonder how law enforcement approach this if increminating evidence was on the memory card, :D - players get one of deees).
- save video to the card for playback on the device. Can you do this on your SK3?
- The ability to transfer music/contacts/pictures/MSWord-Excel-PowerPoint documents there as well bia BT either from/ the phone. Nope on the SK3.
- The ability to view lightly coded Flash websites on the Pearl. Even XHTML is better than the sidekick.
- A choice of full IM apps written Java for preference of layout, etc.
- Google Maps
- Video streams over TRUE EDGE class 10 not class 6 like the SK3.
