The SE W960 is based on the same OS as the SE p1i.
Just uses:
* numerical keypad, not qwerty.
* 8GB HDD
* 160MB RAM - for running apps
* WiFi 802.11b just like the P1
* Finger touch-screen like the iPhone / STylus navigation/input.

Best of both worlds.

IIRC, W960 will have 128 MB RAM , not 160Mb. Same as P1i.

Also, You forgot the "Shake to Shuffle" feature in all new "W" series SE phones :)

@ntrsfrml theres nothing in the world similar to the iPhone!

Then you've been duped! Or you just simply use a phone for just being a phone and retrieving limited weather information.

Lacking apps
Games
synchronization
etc
* Unfortunately its just not enough ... incredible design the iPHone and sparked a HUGE revolution but just not enough.

@ntrsfrml;

I like the P1 but for what it does I'd rather the W960 even wtih 128MB of ram & 8GB HDD. Still no US 3G or EDGE ARRG!

More clearer & non reverse photos of the Touch please :D

Also how is dialing a phone number or rapid text?
Can you film a short 3 sentence paragraph of touchscreen typing stylus or not please?

What is the max video resolution & frame rate on the Touch?

Thanks.

Returned the P1, i kinda miss it but it just wasn't meant to be. Number one gripe was the keypad. not the easiest thing to use or even get used to. Great phone but that keypad.

Anyhue still on the lookout for a new phone now so we'll see

Yes the iPhone is a great design, but you're fooling yourself, or being fooled if you think it's the best phone out there. It's sold as a smartphone, Jobs touted it as a competitor to the Treo, SE P900i (and therefore the P1i) and the Blackberry etc., but it's hardly got any of the features that are available to those phones.

The iPhone is a very good media phone if you use iTunes, and it syncs nicely via iTunes too. But as a true, productive smartphone it's quite lacking.

Best phone for you? Maybe. Best phone for me? No way. Best phone? Is there such a thing? Probably not.

I'll start off with BlackBerry!

1> Infrastructure!
* complete security from server to end device. Triple DES & AES encryption - Powerful enough that the FEDERAL government of the United States, Canada, shortly the Chinese government.
- what does this mean? I don't have to WAIT until someone that stole my phone to plug it into their MAC for it to be disabled. If my BB is on a corporate network I send an email or phone call to my IT department stating its lost/stolen and within less than 5 mins a KILL & Disable switch is sent to my BB unit! ALL data is wiped - cleared db's and even logs like phone logs (not some stupid pw keeper app that can just be hard reset). IF its turned off, even if my SIM card is changed and the provider doesn't know wait until it gets data again and BAM wiped!

* Can you use your iPhone for VoIP on not only your HOME WiFi network but also the corporate network? Does it support VoIP?! a 2 yr old BB unit 7720 does - although its not a cellphone. Europe on Orange network 8820 IS a cellphone & has WiFi .... TMobile USA will have the 8320 Curve with WiFi (802.11a/b/g on 2.4-5Ghz bands) and also support presence?

* 3rd Party Apps.
anything from YahooGo! to Gmail/Yahoo/AOL email synchronization to Corporate VPN connections like Avaya, Cisco to incredible MF Emulation applications (IBM based for TSOC/CISC/IMS/ etc). And growing exponentially.

* Its the ONLY & YES ONLY Smartphone that is FULLY supported under warranty by provider OR directly from Manufacturer (RIM) for upgrading firmwares to downgrading firmwares for the particular unit.
- what does this mean? Well with RIM developers quickly fixing bugs without introducing new ones .... and features ... that mean I can have the themes that O2/Vodafone/Oranage(latter is horrible IMHO); while my hardware was sourced from a Rogers Wireless store - EVEN if my unit is STILL SIM card locked. Also I get the features that those Themes allow ... seperate MMS, SMS, Email application folders (icons if you will).

* Phone.
- I think the iPhone is a SMART-ER Phone, not a smartphone just yet. It needs a lot of time at present closed/open development support from Apple and a LOT of hungry and creative developers. Can you iPhone seperate phone log data?
I call my wife at 8am yesterday.
She calls me at 9am/12pm/3:37pm & finally 8:30PM today.
- Each of these calls are either grouped under her name (threaded) and if I want I can display the details of the times listed above and the length of EACH call where they're from (initiated by my wife or myself) & if I make a conference call to the kids at say the 3:37PM call it'll show that other # as a bonded listing and its call length. ie ... if I talked to my wife for a total of 40 minutes from 3:37PM yet conferenced the kids in at 3:52pm till 4:01PM - it'll show the total talk time with my wife & I and the seperate call time wtih the kids - but a PART OF the original call made from my wife to me.

* STABLE!
- Bar none the most stable smartphone OS in the world
- if corporations & government are expected to have their IT & Sales force and accounting departments & information department to RELY on the BB devices & infrastructure ... you can be assured that it'll stand up to most anything you through at it.
* that said its not crash proof through & through but its the best you can find. If you can remember how MAC OS allowed you to load the librarys for core apps upon boot ignoring 3rd party apps to be able to run ... then you know its a godsend on a smartphone.

Lastly, I don't have to wait more than 6mths for a newer features or device to be released from RIM ... but I have to see which provider gets it first. But at LEAST their improving their offerings not just selling 2 models with barely any differences and waiting for the market sales to fill their empty pockets on research & development BEFORE Apple will develop & release another. Too Slow Apple this isn't the computer market.

Symbian OS

S60 & UIQ3
Various 3rd party apps and with new Symbian 9.1 core at BOTH S60 & UIQ3 security has improved.
Nokia is really pushing the envelope on faster running OS and apps with faster & efficient cpu's and now with Nvidia mobile graphics chips.

Incredible developments. Here with S60 I can install a P2P app and share my library of apps or information or music that I sourced/created/composed to others & get feeback. VoIP is here on corporate or private or personal networks with all kinds of encryption methods just like the BB units on WiFi. PBX VoIP support as well.

So again what can your iPHONE do thats so special except look nice being naked? The camera doesn't even have a Flash for crying out loud.

i have a sony ericsson k550i..i got it before 2 days and it work just great!! the 2mp camera is very clear and has loods of functions..and the buttons are very stylish has blue light between them..i give 10/10 for the design....actually i cant see the point from buying a walkman phone when i have a little 8gb ipod nano with me..:D

Why does your iPhone not have AT&T in the menu bar? And how do have one in Switzerland?

Oh yeah, I hadn't clocked that earlier. So the guy touting the iPhone as the best phone ever actual can't use it to phone? Nice smartpod though.

Also, Using the new Sony Ericsson P1i, WIFI, Blackberry Client, Touch Screen, Full QWERTY keyboard, 3G(no US bands, Damn you SE!!).
how's the sony ericsson doing?
i seen it in the store it looks awesome,the camera is 2mp?can you put extra memorry in it?what the limit??

iPhone #1

Whew! After all those phones.. hopefuly I can stick with one. I orginally returned the iPhone because I couldn't text VZW people (my friends) because they couldn't afford the unlimtd texting to other carriers. So I got the enV.. which vibrated so loud, it defeated its own purpose. Took that back for the VX8700.. good phone. Still have it on VZW. I couldn't live without iPhone though, so I'm using it on AT&T as a Web broswer, iPod, Phone. :) Only mod/hack done is changed "AT&T" to "iPhone" and added a ringtone.

Samsung Upstage. The design is trying to be innovative but there is nothing internally innovative about it. I just got it because it's ridiculously small and I like that it fits in my pocket nicely.

Why don't you just text less instead of paying for 2 phone services?

Hey! Sorry for the late reply guys. I sold my Touch recently.. I was missing my Blackberry e-mail :(..

Anyways, HTC Touch is a great little WM6 device, I was using this iPhone keypad to skin the stock small virtual keyboard. Yes, you can type long paragraphs without using the stylus :)

Touch has a standard 2MP "smart phone quality" camera, Video frame rate is around 15fps and size 640x480(i think??). I have attached some sample pics for your viewing.

Where did you get the keyboard skin?

Why don't you just text less instead of paying for 2 phone services?

Because I can, and I like to text. ;)

I almost did the exact same thing, was it worth it? I am just too drawn to the keyboard.

I used the outside keyboard on the enV more than I did the full qwerty one, it's just to cumbersome to open every time you get a text. I actually prefer the t9 keypad on the VX8700 anyways, it has big, smooth keys that are really easy to text on. :)

People who purchase the EnV aren't the same buyers Verizon and LG intended the 8700 for. If you traded the EnV for the 8700, obviously the keyboard wasn't that important to you- in which case the EnV is simply unnecessarily bulky.
