350MHz PII MMX, 128MB RAM, 8.6GB HDD, 8MB 3D graphics cardBut can it run Crysis? Kidding. What are the specs?
Ooo nice. I would have went with 98 SE though, I feel like XP is a bit demanding (yes, I have seen the requirements). My dad's Pentium III 900mhz ThinkPad T22 struggled under XP.350MHz PII MMX, 128MB RAM, 8.6GB HDD, 8MB 3D graphics card
I was going to go with 98, but I didn't have anymore DVDs or CDs laying around. Honestly, it runs quite well. I might upgrade the RAM, Graphics card, and HDD but I'm not too sure yet. Plus, I don't know mow much RAM to buy, as the max RAM is unknown.Ooo nice. I would have went with 98 SE though, I feel like XP is a bit demanding (yes, I have seen the requirements). Here's my current work set-up/museum. There is a non-PPC computer in there, but at least it's RISC...
R-L, G5 Quad, SGI Octane, Cube(500mhz), a heavily upgrade G3 beige with a 1ghz G4, a LaserWriter Select 360, and a B&W G3. Just outside the frame further to the left is a 512Ke with an HD20. The B&W, beige G3, and 512Ke are all connected via Localtalk and thus can share files as well as print to the Laserwriter.
Also to my back is a Mac Pro 1,1 upgraded to Octo-core (2x quad core 2.66 Xeons), an SSD, and an 8800GT(it flies in Mavericks) connected to a pair of 23" Aluminum Cinemas. There's also generally a laptop on my desk-right now an 11" MBP late '11, but usually a 15" mid-2012(HR Matte Screen!) or sometimes a Powerbook.

Nice bunn! I wish I had an expansive area at my work. I might eventually get my own desk soon. Anyhow, I think it was a bit RISC-y to post the RISC machine on a PowerPC forum![]()
IndeedStill a pretty computer.

Indeed. I have my Acrylic Intel paired with a newer Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse. I also have the same lamp and mousepad.
I have to nitpick that one just a little bit. I have the Magic Mouse connected to my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver via a Belkin USB Bluetooth adapter and it works great. I love the fact that I can scroll webpages on my PowerMac just by sliding my fingers on the back of the mouse.Although the Magic Mouse is way better than the Mighty Mouse.
Wow, beautiful setup! I wish I had an Apple printer, I'd make a retro setup specifically for writing documentsMacintosh 7100 and 1400c/166View attachment 592799
iFixit.com has repair guides. I'd just follow one of those. Probably the logicboard replacement guide as that would have you removing most of the internals. Is there a tutorial or anything showing the best way to clean them? I've taken apart and put together a lot of Windows PCs but are these any different? I have one that's a little dust and I'd like to clean it up.
That's a beautiful G5, BTW.
Be careful, the ones on iFixit are not for the late 05 models like yours, I would recommend an Apple Service ManualThank you David! And yes I guess a repair guide from iFixit would help! It is a quite straightforward process as long as you're careful and make note of what goes where![]()
