This is still in a bit of state of flux, but it's getting there. It also is DESPERATELY in need of a clean-up, which will come once I have everything settled.
The monitors-as can be seen-are a pair of 23" HD Acrylic displays. I have a 30" aluminum sitting in the room, but it's just too large for this set up. I might still try to shoehorn it into place, but it's not a top priority at the moment(as much as I've lusted after the 30"s and now have a couple in my possession, it seems a shame to not use one).
In any case, this range of Apple Studio/Cinema displays through the end of the aluminum LCD era were all 100 ppi, which is desirable to me. For one thing, it avoids small text, and another is that different sized monitors work well together. I was using a MUCH smaller footprint 20" 1920x1080 monitor for a few days, but aside from the different color profile vs. the Apple monitors this higher PPI drove me crazy.
The G5 is a dual 2.7. It has an X800XT video card, which can drive an ADC monitor plus an additional DL-DVI monitor. Needless to say, the right display is running off an A1006, although it can easily drive a 30."
I'm using an Apple Extended Keyboard via a Griffin iMate. The Extended was a recent acquisition-I've been using an AEKII here for a while. I have to say I like the Extended a lot better than the AEKII, although I may buy another Spacesaver M yet for this computer.
The 9600/200MP is currently idle. Unfortunately, with the second 23" display I don't have room for a keyboard and mouse for it(I did have an AEKII and Apple Mouse parked here). Also, the old Dell LCD I was using made things easy as I could switch between it and the other computer just by toggling input selection.
I'm currently fighting SCSI on the computer to drive a slide scanner. I THINK I've narrowed it down to a PowerDomain 29160N, which is readily available on Ebay(at least at the moment). Getting SCSI working on a G5 can be a nightmare in terms of compatible cards vs. a G4(where pretty much any random Adaptec card will work).
The Coolscan V sitting on top of the 9600 is my workhorse scanner.
The CanoScan 8400F on the floor has served me faithfully for quite a while(I got it new in February 2006) but I have an Epson V700 on the way. The Canon will likely be retired at least from film scanning duties and will be set up only for flats. It has scanned a lot of slides and medium format for me, but there's no denying that the Epson was what I WANTED to get even when this one was new(although I think the 4990 was current at the time). Aside from them being all around better, the V700 opens the door for me to large format film and also allows high volume scanning of 35mm and medium format(I think it can do 9 or 12 slides, 4 strips of 35mm, or two strips of medium format).
