The old Macbook Pro is so ugly compared to the unibody, i am really looking forward to a quad core MBP with a 30" Apple screen, i wont update until then but it is hard to wait!

Really?!? I think the old MBPs are SO much nicer looking. The UBs just don't seem as well thought out to me. Like the way the keyboard and speakers line up, and the power button. They all just seem to 'be there' where as on the old ones, everything made sense and was very elegant. Just my opinion though.

Even that nasty, nasty plastic strip round the edge of the case? That ruined the looks of the old PowerBooks/MBPs for me.

A plastic strip is not a deal killer for an overall attractive machine.

I have been contemplating about upgrading my classic MBP - but I can't seem to let it go. It does look classy - the new macbook pro looks just like the macbooks = kind of boring and not unique anymore. The looks of the classic had some kind of distinction. That and I am afraid of those black keys - those things will get oiled up in no time.

Yep, couldn't describe it better myself. It's certainly lacking something...

Thanks, thats my mid' 08 aluinium 15" MackBook Pro (replaced with newer unibody). If i can remember it's sitting on top of an IKEA Rationell - floating glass shelf. The shelf started to come loose and the mini flourescent tube inside blew up. It has since been replaced by a desk/table.

I love the idea of this thread as I dont buy for a second that people's setup's are as clean and spiffy as most people's are in the other thread. If they are then I think its safe to say that Apple users are far more anal than PC users, lol. Anyways I had previously posted these in that thread but they certainly belong in here much more than in there.

As I explained in that previous post, we are buliding an addition on our home that will eventually become my new computer room/office/photo studio and I had to move my computer set up into one of our storage rooms until it is finished. It was much cleaner than this when I first set it up but it has just degraded as time has gone on as I just have no room for anything. The good news is the addition on our home is in the final stages and I wont have to stay in here for much longer. My new computer room is going to be a 1000 times better and 10 times bigger.

Believe me, its much worse than it looks, lol. You cant even see my printers or my Lacie Raid as they are buried under boxes.

What's all that other stuff on your desk? Is that an internal cd drive hooked up externally?

Yeah, it's a DL DVD burner connected with an eSATA to USB connector. I've gone through two Superdrives and they both can't burn a CD or DVD properly. I got fed up. The stuff behind my MBP is 2TB worth of storage. I need more, considering getting a DROBO.

I actually just cleaned my desk earlier this week, and added some shelves to get rid of some clutter. So this setup is probably a lie compared to what I'm used to. :p Also excuse the photomerge, I couldn't back up far enough to get a full shot.

I actually chose this small cubicle over a much larger one with a window. Problem was my back was always facing the entrance so I chose privacy over comfort.

you goto UNM as well? ;)

I like the old ones better too. I don't want to get a 17 inch to get a matte screen and express card slot

Agreed. I do like the unibodies, as well, but after the last refresh, my MBP (old kind) became even more attractive to me thanks to its ExpressCard slot. Me needs it.
