I'm an absolute pizza fanatic, so Slicey is on the inside of my right arm:

both arms on the underside of the bicep/triceps. one of the most painful spots to have them done. you must like pain

I had always heard that but really it wasn't very bad at all. My hip and the sides of my ribs hurt much, much, worse.

Started this in late August, going in a couple of days to start shading, adding the 89 batmobile and backround around the other side .. eventually get to color.

Wow, that's a serious piece of work there. Keep us updated with pictures as the color work progresses.

Thanks guys :)

I originally was going to go color but I am really starting to like it just black, grey and white highlights .. What happens if I don't like it colored? Thoughts?

Switchstance: I would listen to my gut. It seems like you are really liking the tattoo as it is.

As I am not an artist (tattoo or otherwise) and I do not have tattoos my opinion is probably moot but I do have questions:

Is this from existing comic work? Or do you have reference that is close to what was done?

Can your tattoo artist color in a copy of the design so you can get an idea of what that would be like?

On a more technical note:

Do they have examples of applying color over detailed black, gray and white work? What does your artist think about coloring this tattoo?

If yes to everything above:

Maybe just do spot color like the Joker's hair and smile?

buggers off back underneath her iMac.

It's Bushido, If you don't know what it is, it's basically translated into "way of the Warrior"

I know that you posted this last year, but is the first character an alternate version?
Bushido
武士道 (hiragana ぶしどう, romaji bushidō)

Thanks guys :)

Honestly, I loooooooooooved it like this:

But I don't like it when it is filled right now. With color - it would look worse in my eyes.

For the Batman tattoo - if you only color in parts, it will look very unfinished. It looks really good in the grey, the shading is really nice. I also liked the outline version, but keeping that is no longer an option.

If I just kept the outline it would always look like an unfinished tattoo. I feel the shading really made it pop and gave it realism which is what I was going for.

I don't have much experience with tattoos as this is my second one, I just hope if color is added the realism will go away. I will just have to talk to the artist.

What type of a look are you going for?
