I've been away from the internet for a few days (yikes) and so when I saw this headline (
PowerBooks Delays), but before I read the text, I thought it might be relevant to what's happened to my recent PowerBook order.
Finally tired of waiting for the mythical update for the 15" PowerBook, I went ahead and placed my order for the current 1 GHz TiBook last Tuesday (July 22). Estimated shipping time, 1-3 days. When the order's status changed to "Open", I was notified that it would ship "on or before" Friday, July 25.
Friday came and went, with no change in status. And you know, of course, that I was checking the Apple Store site every few minutes to see if it had shipped yet. Some time over the weekend (while I was away) they changed the shipping date to "on or before" Wednesday, July 30. So now my imagination goes into overdrive.
They're going to announce something
this Tuesday. And they're holding off on my shipment because they're going to bump mine up to the updated model.
And then I read this story, and reality takes hold again. The only reason that my TiBook's shipment has been delayed a few additional days is because
stuff happens. They're not going to announce an update on Tuesday.
I don't guess I have a point. Just anxiously awaiting my new notebook, whatever it's going to be. But Steve, if you're reading this, I
am still open to you guys sending me the updated PowerBook if that works out for this Tuesday
