It could be an honest mistake. Think about it, you’re looking forward and the augmented reality is in your vision, the natural thing to do would be to raise your hand up to manipulate it. However Apple designed it with downward facing cameras and sensors specifically for this reason, they want people to be relaxed and keep hands down while using it.
So tired of this meaningless term “pre-order”. It’s an ORDER! Nothing PRE about it. Like “pre-boarding”…. Getting in the plane before you get on the plane?

Probably limit one per order. Best to just put one away in cold storage and if it ends up being popular you can sell it in 16 years for 400x cost like the iPhone, or worst case probably still get a few times the cost.
I *think* you can still order from the website. I'm going to try at least to get my discount as well. Just not for sure how they'll use the Apple Store app to scan my face if I'm using the website. But we shall see.

So it’s actually happening, Apple will popularize this creepy nonsense. Looking back at 2007, I feel like life was better before 2007. Crazy, I know, but I feel like iPhone and it’s on demand functionality ruined the society over time. It drove competition to produce similar product, so everyone’s running with an iPhone in their hand these days and being made stupid by the internet, especially the kids. If this stupid AR/VR thing from Apple takes off the same way, we as sociate are done.
Society was ruined when the internet was made public. Especially when AOL started the internet revolution.
I agree, I just feel like the iPhone hype took accelerated things. I miss the days of the iPod hype, people appreciating art rather than being literally stuck to the screen. Now the screen will be stuck to them.

I'm in Canada, but trying to order TWO of these for my teams who are US based... Got my VPN set up and ready, with a US company Credit Card. But I'm very worried about this Apple Store App requirement. And I'm also not seeing the "store being down" despite being on the US version of the site. Anyone else seeing the store NOT down from the US? GOSH, I hope they let me buy two of these damned things without needing face scans. 😵💫
EDIT: I DO see the Store is down. OK, so at least I'm on the correct version of the website. The Canadian apple dot com doesn't even have Vision as a nav item in the top.

Ordered! Choose to pick it up in store that evening. The appointment times filled up very quickly. I could have also chosen to get it delivered, but usually deliveries don't get to me until the evening anyways so I figured I might as well have them show me how to use it by picking it up.
