It's dazzling how some of us imagine these scenarios as if there are no possible workarounds... ignoring how the existing variations of the same have already worked out ways to get around passenger immersion(?). This will be no different. If the intent is to ACTUALLY do this on those flights, people who work out such scenarios employed by that airline will work out how to resolve the very rare emergency and informational communication needs of Captain & Crew.

A favorite is this very one: in an emergency scenario, Vpro people will be so disconnected that they will be helpless and unable to help others. In reality, and especially on long flights, here's a common scene...

Not only are people "blocked off" by sleep masks and headphones but some are fully unconscious. And yet, every day, over 90K passenger flights make it to their destinations anyway and those in much rarer emergencies that don't end in tragedy seem to have no trouble waking people from deep sleeps vs. only interrupting a signal on a VR experience, much like interrupting a signal on a seat-back screen.

"Think different" people. This one is an easy one with only a "how do they do it now?" bit of imagination.

If Middle East luxury airlines don’t offer it today, I find it hard to believe this offer will last very long. Besides, what if something happens and plane needs to emergency descend or do dangerous manoeuvre? How would crew let passenger pull out their expensive Vision Pro and prepare for the emergency without damaging those $3500 devices in commotion and chaos? How about theft? Are they really thinking through?
Airlines will have insurance on them, imo.

Novelty begets gimmick. I can only imagine the pre-flight face scanning and fitment process in the boarding lounge. And then what is the average person even going to do with this thing during the flight? Is the expectation that they are going to login with their personal AppleID and stream TV shows and movies from AppleTV+? Is BEOND developing an app for the AVP that integrates with their in-flight entertainment service?

If there is an emergency, the $3500 device is the least of problem duh.

Yuck, not sure I want to wear a lice and bacteria infected headband, let alone have my eyes exposed to whatever viruses, yeasts, diseases, and bacteria that have taken up residence in the visor itself.
Maybe you should just not touch anything anywhere anytime. This will be cleaner then everything else you come in contact with btw

" it will offer Apple Vision Pro headsets to select passengers"

They bill themselves as a luxury airline and from their tiny website it is clear it is very expensive.

What exactly does "select passengers" mean? At their prices, every passenger should have a Vision Pro set available on request.

Its an all business seat airline
They have three tiers of "business class": Delight, Bliss and Opulence.

The lowest tier, even if starting at over $3k for a round trip, is your premium economy class no matter what label you slap on it (and probably not the one where you'd have access to a complimentary AVP).

Newly established luxury airline Beond has announced it will offer Apple Vision Pro headsets to select passengers for "an immersive inflight entertainment experience."

The premium leisure airline said it will provide the Apple devices to passengers on its flights to the Maldives, where the airline is based. From the press release:
The overall response to Apple Vision Pro from users, critics, and the broader public has been varied. However, the consensus is that wearing the headset during flights stands out as one of its most widely appreciated applications.

Acknowledging the headset's potential to make long-haul flights more private and liberating, Apple has included a Travel mode in visionOS that stabilizes visuals for users on an airplane, allowing them to, for example, watch movies on a massive virtual screen.

Beond said it will offer "Apple's ground-breaking content experience" beginning in July 2024. The news follows Beond's launch of commercial passenger services in 2023 from Munich, Zurich, and Riyadh to Malé, Maldives. Beond says it plans to debut flights from Milan, Dubai, and Bangkok to the Maldives in mid-2024, in an all-lay flat seating configuration.

More power to them. At the home office Zurich? they are certainly reading through the remarks here. LOL. Disclaimer: Probability of me being a BEOND customer is non-existent for reasons other than AVP.

It’s Apple’s incredible AR. Can’t the passengers just land the plane themselves???

Depending on where and when you are flying, the cost of the Beond flight may be the same as the cost of a cheaper airline PLUS the cost of actually buying a VP.

For example, a Beond flight from Zurich, Switzerland to Male, Maldives is around $4,000 USD to $4,500 USD but you can get an economy flight on Turkish Airlines or Qatar Airways for as little as $700 USD or so.

I don't mind rolling the dice on an influencer brand when it comes to clothing, but definitely not air travel.

Well, to be fair we would have to compare with a business or first class ticket since the article describes a “lay flat” configuration.

And please, don’t mistake this clarification as my promoting this glorified shuttle bus in any way.😁
