It's dazzling how some of us imagine these scenarios as if there are no possible workarounds... ignoring how the existing variations of the same have already worked out ways to get around passenger immersion(?). This will be no different. If the intent is to ACTUALLY do this on those flights, people who work out such scenarios employed by that airline will work out how to resolve the very rare emergency and informational communication needs of Captain & Crew.
A favorite is this very one: in an emergency scenario, Vpro people will be so disconnected that they will be helpless and unable to help others. In reality, and especially on long flights, here's a common scene...
Not only are people "blocked off" by sleep masks and headphones but some are fully unconscious. And yet, every day, over 90K passenger flights make it to their destinations anyway and those in much rarer emergencies that don't end in tragedy seem to have no trouble waking people from deep sleeps vs. only interrupting a signal on a VR experience, much like interrupting a signal on a seat-back screen.
"Think different" people. This one is an easy one with only a "how do they do it now?" bit of imagination.
