Heyho! I looked around and I'm asking myself for how much I should maybe sell my MacPro 2013. It is a 6-core machine with 16 GB Ram and the AMD FirePro D700 cards. Condition ist very good.
I saw it varies a lot... from like 1,670,- $ to about 2,570,- $ or something. o_O

What would you think would be a appropriate rate on that one?

Best regards
I guess it depends on what you mean by « condition isn’t very good »? What issues does it have?

The irony of posting this thread is that it might actually higher the prices.

As with any product on a free market it's simple matter of supply and demand.

Thanks - yes, I already looked some sold items up buuut, I really don't know why some prices are so different - okay, obviously the D700 card is not so frequently listed but... well, I just want to ask before it goes to ebay and co in my circle of friends if anyone wants to buy it - and I want to make a fair price, so it is a little bit difficult for me to guess how much my config would be worth. (It has a 512 hard drive also - I don't find this combi too often. Mostly some have more RAM, but another graphic card and so on.)

I’ve found pretty good success in selling things on sites like Craigslist and Kijiji by including really good descriptions and photos. Also coming from a smoke-free and pet-free environment is a good selling point.

You know your computer best, and if you take the care to accurately describe it and its service history, that can go a long way.

The most recent new price from Apple for that model was $3399 (MD878LL/A was $2999 + $200 for D700 graphics + $200 for 512GB SSD). I think a good price for a used unit with no warranty would be half that price, which would be $1699.50. That's about what you would receive if you sold it on eBay for $2000 after fees. You might be able to get a little more if you sold it locally or somewhere else online that doesn't charge fees. Not too many D700 units sell for under $2000 on eBay, so if it was me selling it that's what I would start out at. You could try $2200, but keep in mind the 8-core and 12-core ones are worth more (most recently $800 and $2000 options). There is an 8-core listing on eBay for $2199.99 so you probably couldn't go higher with a 6-core.

Prices will drop on the mac pro 6,1 used computer when people stop paying silly prices for them. The prices people are asking online are ridiculous. Most people would still be better off with a 5,1 upgraded. (most, not all)

I’ve noticed quite a few get re-listed or sit for a long time. The ones that want 10k for an 8-core with $400 shipping blow my mind.

Nope. Apple still sold these new 6 months ago and you can still find them brand new. The various Micro Center locations have about 6 of them. You can't expect such a recent Mac to suddenly drop in price to nothing, especially when Apple doesn't have anything similar to offer. 5,1 is obsolete with major security risks. It cannot legitimately run any macOS past Mojave (running Catalina or Big Sur on it makes it a hackintosh according to the license agreement) and it should be used offline only.

LOL
No Interest in Catalina, if I want to run Big Soeur ill get an Arm Mac Pro, or maybe slot an arm mac mini inside one of my 5,1s :)

Too bad they don't ship... internationally.

TrevorR90 offered to pick one up for you. Maybe Alexis would too. I just shipped two parcels (for my business) to Italy and Canada today. I've been using parcelmonkey.com for international shipping. They make the customs forms for you. Print out 3 of them, sign them, and place them in the pouch. USPS might be the most economical though. The private couriers like UPS charge a brokerage fee for customs clearance, but if you live near a customs office you can clear the customs yourself.

You're right, TrevorR90 did. My bad.

This is an ebay trick... commercial sellers get charged a listing fee, but are free to update their listings as many times as they want. So when they temporarily sell out of an item, they modify their listing (free) to a ridiculous price knowing no one will buy it. When they get more stock of the item, they lower the price back to the normal amount (once again no charge to update a listing) and avoid a listing fee.

So THAT’S what it is!

What happens if someone buys it and they can’t deliver?

That's not how it works. When you sell out of an item the listing isn't ended, but the listing no longer appears in search results. You would have to set the quantity to more than zero for it to re-appear and there's no reason to do that if you don't have any stock because the zero item listing will stay active on your account until you raise the quantity again without having to pay a listing fee. So those listings that have high prices are just that. They are listings where the seller has set the quantity to more than zero and set the price shown. I think most of those have a best offer on them. I don't know why they set it so high. Maybe they know buyers can see they've sold a few of them so they're hoping someone will see that and think since others are buying it that must mean it's a good deal so they buy it at the price listed.

Did anyone else notice the Micro Center in Brooklyn had a 2019 Mac Pro marked down to $4498.96? I was watching it to see if it dropped more, but I see someone bought it now. I don't think I want one of those now that the ARM transition is happening (since I've already spent enough on Intel Macs and the 6,1s will hold me over), but interesting to see the prices drop.

I wonder if there was structural damage to the case?
