Once you've experienced 120Hz, you can't go back. For those with a 120Hz Pro phone, try enabling power saving to disable it and see how horrendous it is. I suppose if you've never experienced it, then you don't know, so ignorance is bliss!

Enabling power saving is turning down a whole lot more than just the refresh rate on the display. It slows the CPU, the GPU, etc. as well as the refresh rate.

60hz is smooth once you’ve adjusted, I went from a 15 Pro to a regular 15. No issues. I also have a 60hz Apple Studio Display I use for work and a 165hz gaming PC, again no issues.

Yeah I think some people notice it more than others.
I jump between a 120hz iPad Pro, 60hz iPhone 12 Pro and 60hz Macbook Air and don’t notice it. Sure if I’m looking for it I can tell the iPad is smoother, but in day to day life it’s not something I’m worried about.

Regular 16 for me this year.

I am on Plus currently, always had Pro before. The only thing I really do miss i the better camera especially the macro mode. Not sure if I should switch from 15 Plus to 16 Pro, really want a smaller phone again but also love a good battery life.

I'm going to wait until I can see them in store, and compare colours and sizes, before deciding.

Non pro, mainly because it is for my son as his first phone. He doesn’t need the pro features.

Unfortunately I notice it too much, especially with a 120Hz MacBook Pro as my primary computer. :(

It's also just a matter of principle for me. The entry-level phones are too expensive and it's too late after 120Hz was introduced for it to still not be available. I'm very aware that a display that is capable of 120Hz is being artificially limited and it bothers me.

it's literally $200 difference guys on a $1000+ phone, even though this year the gap between regular and pro models are especially small, it still makes no sense for anyone trying to save $200 and not get the pro version for something that you will use everyday and miss the pro items however small the list is. If you are this strapped for cash to save $200, then dont spend the $1000 to begin with.
The price difference is secondary. Many just prefer the smaller size and 17% lighter weight of the base 16, and know by now that they seldom need the advanced photo/video features of the Pro.

I'm pretty torn assuming I upgrade this go round:

16 - I can't stop liking the Teal. The lightness. The $170 cheaper price ($829 vs $999) even though that isn't a deal breaker in Apple world it's potential nice partial savings for my next upgrade, offset by less specs admitedly.
Especially might be nice if I upgrade again next year.

16 Pro - the colors straight up bore me but I haven't had a silver/white phone since iPhone X. That one is calling me if I go this route. The black looks nearly indistinguishable from 15 Pro and close to the 14 Pro Max I had that came before it. I like the natural one too. Good thing I didn't get a 15 pro last year or I would be even more bored by these styles.
6.3" screen size boost - not sure I want bigger but 0.2" might not matter in a similar size chassis as 15 pro @ 6.1. But thinner bezels always appreciated even though I don't really care that much.

..Added camera system, boosted SoC with A18 Pro (dont really care) 120hz (kinda care) and third telephoto in additional to new 48MP ultra wide sensor (kinda care)... But I do wonder if 120HZ OLED is harsher on my eyes than 60hz. it felt that way when I switched between 13 mini and 14 pro max for comparisons (even buttery smoothness animation of 120hz aside). And once you use 60hz for a little bit it's not that hard to re-acclimate. I don't game on my phone or edit videos or do anything more than open apps and watch Youtube sometimes.

The added weight I am not thrilled about it's weighted the same as 16 Plus at 199g whereas the regular 16 is 170g. That would be a much nicer move coming from 240g 14PM and 140g current 13 mini :D

regular 16 now has macro mode.

This year, I'm going from 15 Pro Max in black to regular 16 in Teal. Can't wait to have a lighter and smaller and more pocketable phone again.

I recently restarted jogging again and nothing prepared me for the inconvenience of jogging and taking the 15 Pro Max with me. OVER IT.

Why would anyone jog with a phone when there is a Apple Watch? used to do triathlons would of loved a Apple Watch then.

Coming from a 14 Pro Max I'm thinking about going to the 16 Plus tbh. I want a new phone this year because I work in the industry and like to keep fairly up to date, but I don't know that the differences in the camera + screen are worth the $500 price difference here in Canada. I also don't really want a bigger phone and the weight difference would be nice.

That and the pink one is pretty appealing 😂

So the base 16+ is $899 and the base 16PM is $1199 making it $300. That + my current watch trade in gets me a new watch instead of an extra camera I don’t use, lidar again I don’t use, the “coveted” 120hz display that I truly don’t even notice between my different electronics, and the always on display that I personally find annoying. Plus I get to have a phone with a little personality as something I have with me all the time.

PS. maybe don’t comment on others finances as you never know what’s around the corner for yourself.

Not worried about missing pro motion or a third camera?

300 is a pretty big gap in price especially when getting up to 1200 and tax

200 it’s a toss up between regular and pro
No I truly don’t notice the difference of 120 vs 60. I guess switching back and forth for work electronics makes it easier. I even turned it to 60 on my PM in accessibility to make sure I’m ok and truly don’t even notice. And the extra camera does nothing for me. I’m never that far from my dogs to need 5x zoom and that’s 90% of my photos. lol

I can also now get a new watch with the savings so to me it’s a great choice.

I’ve never had a pro (because I’ve always gone for smaller models), but I think I will this year. The factors for me are telephoto lens, bigger display in the same form factor (smaller bezels), better battery life, usb-c 3.0 speeds, and AOD/120hz. None of these is a huge deal to me, and I’m sure the regular 16 would be great. But a $200 price difference spread out across the 2-3 years I’ll keep the phone is also not a big deal. Even if I just keep it 2 years, that’s around $8/month or about a quarter a day.

The weight difference is a good point and probably noticeable, but I doubt the size is. The bigger screen on the pro is mostly made possible by slimmer bezels and not a bigger frame. The pro is 2mm taller, .1mm narrower, and .1mm thicker than the regular 16. Of those, only the height is possibly noticeable, but it’s 2mm on top of 147, or less than 2% of the total.

I have a 15pm now. Really want to just go with a standard 16 or 16+. The ultramarine is calling my name. I never use the camera on my phone unless it’s to take close up photos of family or to show friends something in front of me. I’d miss 120hz but I have the M4 iPad Pro for content consumption. I only use my phone to scroll social media, text people, and listen to music. Strongly considering just selling my pro max to pay off my installments with my carrier and starting fresh with a standard model. Lowering my bill a little and making it easier to upgrade yearly with the lower price of the phone.
