I own the original install DVD, and this image was not the default (I've used it on my Intel iMac back when that Mac worked). However, my DVD was a part of the Mac Box Set so perhaps that had something to do with it? Yes, it's 10.6.0, not 10.6.3.
I'm 99% sure that the purple aurora was the default with retail 10.6.0.

Perhaps he meant default picture of the snow leopard? Because I'm also 99.9% sure Snow Leopard always used the new purple aurora as the default .

I have figured out how to tile the System 7 images. I was previously just adding them to the Desktop Pictures folder in /Library/. When you are selecting pictures from that folder, it doesn't allow you to adjust the images. However, when you put the folder in, say, the Photos folder, then select any photo, it gives you the option to stretch, fit to screen, center, or tile the image. So now selecting a System 7 wallpaper and selecting tile properly tiles the images as it does on System 7 and OS 8.

Here's "Circuits" tiled on my MacBook Pro 9,1:

Is this where you found the 5K versions? Not the same quality as an official 5K version from Apple, but he did a decent job upscaling these. Only an issue with 10.7 and earlier, 10.8+ wallpapers do have an official 5K version as those are still bundled with modern versions of MacOS.

Indeed it is. I saw it on Low End Mac and figured I’d use them to upgrade the ones in the folder to be high res. I was comparing them and noticed some extremely minor inaccuracies in shadows, brightness, and blurs, but they were extremely close and if not being directly compared, you would never know the difference.

So the only ones with high pixel density (MacBook Pro retina ready) are the default wallpapers?

I like others that were not the default, like the Shapes one, the rocks one, or the circles one.
Are this in HD? Thank you.

Also, that 'Sydney' wallpaper is actually the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam ;)

Good spotting.

I wonder if that was an official error from Apple... It does look quite similar to the Anzac Bridge in Sydney from that angle, but it is unmistakably the Erasmus Bridge.

If you need, I've got the Leopard and Snow Leopard Server wallpapers. The wallpapers in the previous server versions are included in both Leopard and Snow Leopard. I do know that some wallpapers got removed over the years even before Lion. For example, non-widescreen versions of some of the older wallpapers, and the Tiger and Jaguar fur wallpapers too. I also have all of these should you want them. :D

Btw the dynamic wallpaper folder with the 16 files included in the dynamic wallpaper file also contains the day and night wallpapers as they were taken from the dymanic wallpaper file.
