maybe its just me but that name totally wouldn't pass Apple's marketing team. Could be why it was scrapped if that is the name, but I don't know if they would have went with that name from the beginning.

I tend to agree. My wife thinks it's Gamma Blue rather than Laser, and Squadron Blue / Gamma Blue is a little better, but still not there I think.
And in the spirit of unlikely names, here is Light Blurple / White with some near neighbours

I'd have to see it in person. But the whole "X Blue/Y Blue" thing doesn't really speak Beaverton x Cupertino naming to me. It's half the reason I ditched "Iron Gray/Gray" as an early name for light magnet.

Speaking of Magnet, here is Obsidian Mist / Black with Magnet / Anthracite(?) and what now I have it IRL I'm pretty sure is not Magnet / Grey that is not Cool Gray, nor is it Platinum. Did the grand council come up with a definitive name for that one?
Lastly worth a mention is that the pre-production Obsidian / Black and Black / Hyper Grape are identical to the production ones so far as I can see - unfortunately both of those came with black pins in production so there isn't even that cool feature. No photo as it would be of nothing we haven't seen before.

Though quick Googleage suggests the commonly paired (OK, the pairing on the one pair of shoes that came up a dozen times) Ghost looks quite close. Ghost / White might work as a marketing name.
If you want to really go down the rabbit hole, punch that in to GOAT.com and see every Nike sneaker with Ghost or Ghost Aqua. I feel like it’s that Laser Blue all over again. There’s enough wiggle room between the band and how the color is rendered on shoes and clothes that every new light blue I see changes my mind.
I’m thinking that accent color we share might be Chlorine Blue, by the way, which is actually one I found way back when the Flat Silver/Blue band was just a picture and not a sales offer. But at the end of the day Laser Blue is close enough, or Light Photo Blue...the world is what you decide it is.
