We've been expecting a major revision change when it was though Key Lime Pie was going to be it, and it turned out to be KitKat.

So I'm thinking likely it will be more incremental changes ...

Is the expectation that the next version will be more of a major jump?

My guess would be if they take ART out of Beta they will bump the version number 5 due to the significance of the change.

----------

The end of 2 updates a year? We've been on 4.x for a couple of years now. Point updates are not full OS updates. ICS, JB and KitKat are iterations. 5.0 will be a completely new ui.

Your comment is as ridiculous as saying that Apple has been on OS X for more than a decade as point upgrades are meaningless.

The version numbers are arbitrary but their major releases have been denoted by dessert name change (hence multiple releases under Jelly Bean).

4.x was a significant departure within the UI from 2.x, as 5.x will be from 4.x.

Your analogy to OSX 10 is as flawed as comparing Apple to Android. Hell, maybe we should compare Linux and the Commodore OS updates to Android while we are at it. Right? I mean, every company obviously updates their software the same way in your view.

I'm looking forward to 12PM on the east coast. Are they doing a live stream of the conference?

Was that a bigger Nexus phone they just showed?

edit: nah, I guess it was just a N5

Lockscreen notifications is now standard. Happy for former-iOS users who miss this feature.

Really like the new look, too.

The folder icon still looks horrible.

Yeah, the way the apps inside are lined up so straight is weird, huh?

----------

The overall white-card theme is really nice.

I love both of these things. Maybe I will stick with the Nexus for a while...

This android one thing is cool, but honestly, when Google does cheap, it does cheap. There are huge quality issues with the Nexus 5, which is purposely inexpensive.

Too much white with a Crayola tint to it. Not really a fan of the new UI.

Agreed. I don't LOVE it either, but I certainly don't love iOS 7 where it is either. Hopefully this comes to my Nexus before the iPhone 6 launch.

Which problems have you been having?

any kind of tools to control apps on android would be great
like youmail does not need my location, ever.. just wasting battery
they should integrate greenify too, dont need a majority of apps running in the background, at all
