I tried out a pixel yesterday and THIS is the phone people should get if they want android.
Smooth as can be and easy to use. My only complaint is the hardware is ugly imo.

For me the Samsung stuff is still just not up to par software wise, and I can't put all of that on Android's back. The TouchWiz skin is STILL a lagfest after the first week or so, and it still is a bloatfest. No excuse for that in 2017.

Samsung makes killer hardware, but I've never used a Samsung phone that didn't lag. Not even the S7/S7 Edge or the now defunct Note 7. They still stutter and hiccup and it is just mind boggling. It proves specs don't matter when the OS and/or it's skin is so poorly optimized. Again, great hardware and great features, but sorry excuse for their software.

I've never had any hiccups or lag or crashes on an iPhone and I'm in my third one. 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and now 7 Plus. iOS 8 through 10.2 (though I've had experience with 6 and 7 on iPads and still nothing). They were all super fast and I've never had as much as a app crash or a respringboard or any lag or stutter or slowdowns after awhile. I realize it happens, but it happens MUCH less than a Samsung. I recently helped a friend set up her S7 Edge and it was a lagfest out of the box. It may only be a second or two at best, few seconds at worst but that builds up and there is no excuse for it in comparison to an iPhone, or even a Pixel/Nexus/Stock Android device. Even LG and HTC phones lag less than Sam's. They better step it up to compete this yr.

If you need the customization and feature set of Android, get a Pixel or Pixel XL.

If you like iOS, stay with an iPhone or iPhone Plus. I think you will be better served.

Note7 is fortunate design problem and already calling back, this model cannot represent where all Samsung device OS the slowest.
The note 7 S820 model represents all Samsung devices using S820. Thats it, it is actually well known that the Exynos version of Galaxy devices are both better performers and actually last longer then their Snapdragon counterpart

Have to agree that Exynos has more consistent performance than Snapdragon. Lag is inherent in all mobile devices including iPhones, just hop over to the iPhone and iOS forums to see all the complaints, which I believe is due to the way the SoC immediately throttles down when idle to conserve battery then ramps up on demand. I suspect different SoC architectures will have different perceived lag. Some SoCs turn off cores completely when idle so I suspect it takes longer to ramp up so more noticeable delay while other SoCs migrate between big.LITTLE high performance and high efficiency cores that tend to be always on but at a reduced clock so probably less delay. It's kind of like those newer Mercedes sedan that turn off the engine at a stop light then starts the engine upon hitting the gas pedal. While not everyone might be bothered by the delay some will notice it vs a hybrid that switches from ICE to electric, ICE only or EV only. One thing that's consistent of late is virtually all the major players have switched to big.LITTLE implementation like Qualcomm and even Apple SoC but it still has lag probably due to first implementation and requiring further iOS scheduler tuning.

I've had 0 issues or lag or crashes or hiccups on any of my iPhones. Never had a single problem. I had 3 Sammies, all a lagfest. Also plenty of experience with the S7. There are more laggy Samsung devices than laggy iPhones.

Well said. Agreed with your rendition of the iPhone comparison.

My 6+ was the biggest lagmeister and crashbot I've ever owned. The 6S+ wiped the floor with it but still had lag here and there. My Xperia XZ? Zero lag. I've had it almost three months now and I haven't experienced *any* lag in the UI or any app. I know Samsung phones are infamous for Touchwiz lag but I'd still put an S7 up against any iPhone since the 5S.

Wasn't referring to the Xperia. On average though iOS is a lot less laggy. S7 vs i7+ I'd take the iPhone with its blisteringly fast performance.

My 6S is pretty much lag free. It went through a spell of crashing and lagging but seems to be sorted out with the regular updates.

I don't know why some here think it's such a competition? Grow up. :)

I appreciate that you were talking specifically about Samsung devices but I was just mentioning that Android itself can run exceptionally smoothly, like on Nexus/Pixel phones and also some others with close to stock representation.

I'm cured of Sammy, though Note 7 was next on my list.

Thought new iPhone 6S+ was close to perfect until I grabed Huawei Mate 9. Clean smooth fast and puts my S7 to shame plus there are things iOS does it doesn't do that drives me to Android. OS 7 Huawei is my six years A+

I've had quite a few apps crash on my iPhone 7 Plus. One was a wallpaper/homepage making app. Then various news apps. Nothing from major software oriented vendors like Apple itself or Google has crashed yet, though Apple Music has gone slightly wonky on me on iOS and Android.

Never bothered by apps or OS crashing, pretty much accepted it happens as it happens on all platforms and i have to say i'm skeptical of anyone who says its something they never experienced. On my iPhone 6 plus it happens from time to time and i deal with it and move on. Also happened on every android, windows, OSX and Linux device i've ever used.
