The first beta was sent just now to the first 50 lucky applicants ;) check your mailboxes!

I'm on Vista, and it seems like I'm having trouble extracting the files.

There is a directory called - PushGMail.app,
a file called: PushGMail.app,
and another file called: gmail_adhoc_profile.mobileprovision

When I try and extract, the PushGMail directory folder will not extract because there is also a file called PushGMail.app

Is there a work around?

BTW: The adhoc transferred without problems.

I am getting an unknown error when I try to install. It adds fine to the iTunes library just not my iPhone. I am a 3G iPhone running 3.0.1.

Error Code: 0xE8008016
Me as well. I've e-mailed support and we're trying to figure it out.

Are you jailbroken? Also s/he told me to go check if the profile was installed (Settings-> General-> Profile.)

It says my profile is verified. I have absolutely no idea what that means though.

Yes I am jailbroken.

Double edit (just got this from support): We are aware of a build problem with the first zip file. We will be resending the file momentarily, stay tuned!

Ok got it installed. First little bug is when you press done after you enter your account info the keyboard stays up.

Just sent myself a test email and it worked perfectly. Showed the sender, the subject, and some of the body. Also opened up the gmail web app when I unlocked my phone.

I'll just edit this post from now on with other things I find.

The 2nd one installed fine. The notifications are extremely quick atm (no longer than 2 seconds to receive the notification). Like JH- said, the keyboard does not retract after entering login info.

Installed fine on my mac.

1) No icon for the app yet?
2) When I logged into my Gmail, under the "Mailboxes" section I see this?:-

3) After exiting from the app a few times, and getting back, it just crashes. Can't run the app even after doing a phone reset. Is this normal?

4) Deleted the app, resync from itunes and can access the app again. However going into the "Mailboxes" section crashes the app.

Wow, that doesn't sound right lol. I was able to log in fine with no errors and actually just sent about 20 consecutive emails real quick to my account and were all pushed through within a second or two flawlessly.

I'm actually pretty impressed at the moment but until you get thousands of people (not just 50+) to really stress the server there's no telling how it will react.

I have sent two emails to myself (from another email to this one)

And received many others Wow it is fast and very very cool!

You guys planning on charging for the app or is it going to go out for free?

The five emails I've received so far have pushed perfectly! I had the same issue as above with my keyboard not retracting. But otherwise, no issues. I'll be able to test it fully doing business hours tmrw when my inbox gets heavy :D

Should we really discuss the beta in this public forum :p. I ran into some problems, and emailed then to you. Other than that, push work great.

Notifications work this time round after reinstalling the app. However getting into the apps to read the mails crashes it again. Can't access the app after that.

Does this has anything to do with the fact I'm not in US?

Does it crash if you access Mobile Gmail via Safari?

The app crashed the first time after I enabled push when I clicked on Mailboxes. Once I re-entered my info, I got the Google error page that someone already posted. When I re-launched, I had to log into gmail. After a few test emails, it is working fine, push notification is very fast!

Nope. Runs fine via Safari. My only problem so far is I can't get into the app anymore once set up (crashes everytime). Notification works fine though, just that I can only close it but not tap "View" to access the app anymore.

orpheus1120: the problem seems to be that you did not entered your full email address as your login name. You uninstalling the app, and reinstalling the beta.

For everyone else, if you are experiencing crashes, please email support!

It has worked for mre without any problems thusfar. The notifications really do get pushed to the phone relatively quickly. So far it's not bad at all. I never log into my Gmail account via the web since I use the mail app on my iPhone and on my MBP. For me, it would be nice to integrate the push notifications into the mail app. But I know that's a whole separate thing.

Overall, I'm impressed in the early stages.
