iPhone Pwnage Guide: PwnageTool/QuickPwn/WinPwn: Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone/3G

One dumb question: Does the unlocking (and jailbreaking) affect somehow to MobileMe? Will my MobileMe work after I've unlocked my iPhone? Thanks.

Edit. Whatever... it didn't affect.
 
Where do I find the firmware download for the first step in redsn0w. I've looked in all the itunes program folders and can't find it. My iphone 3G is already upgraded to 3.0 so I have downloaded it already through itunes. When I used QuickPWn before it found the correct firmware for me so I didn't have to look for it.

TWO questions...
FIRST If I got 1.1.4 (2G iphone) and I want to upgrade to 2.2.1
Can I Upgrade to 2.2.1 downloading the firmware without any issues or I got to get 2.0.0 first then the 2.2.1

Second Any good software MAC to backup the stuff besides Itunes...

hate to do this....

I hate to be one of "those guys" that always whines about doing searches and trying to find the information for yourself and all, but in this case it really did only take about 15 seconds to find and verify the iphone firmware download site using the simple phrase "iphone firmware" through google.

You just have to go through that list and download which ever firmware version you are using (probably towards the bottom)

I think i may have misread/misunderstood your post...

C:\Documents and Settings\*USER HERE*\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Is where the itunes program downloads the updates (*.ispw) when you upgrade your iphone... (and i guess you can add another 15 seconds for that search too if you want... with the term "where does itunes save firmware")
 
So since my powerbook G4 is running 10.4.1 the redsnow and or the quickpwn that i downloaded (along with firmware) will not work to jailbreak my iphone 3G? Also anyone on 3.0 that the spell check dosen't work for texts and messages?
 
redsnow keeps crashing when i get the final part and am holding down the home button for 30 seconds

Unfortunately, I think the dev teams tools only wok on Intel Macs.
 
I want ot do this so I can tether.

which set of instructions do I use? I don' even know what model of iphone I have. here's what about says on the phone. Thanks.

Look at the back of your iPhone, is it aluminum? If yes, it's an original iPhone. If no and it's either black or white plastic, it's an iPhone 3G.

Does this mean it's jailbreakable for the purpose of tethering? The guide says something about version up to firmware 2.1?
